League of Legends Patch 3.10 Remakes Master Yi

Changes to Elise, Ryze and Twisted Fate also feature in the latest League of Legends patch.

League of Legend's wuju swordsman Master Yi is usually jokingly referred to as a "right-click-warrior." This is in reference to his rather bland skillset, that means that the majority of his damage comes from just wailing on his opponents with his standard attack. Riot are set to change that in the latest League of Legends patch, which features a complete overhaul of the champion. Other changes include tweaks to Elise, Ryze and Twisted Fate.

Probably the biggest change to Yi's skills is that his main ability, Alpha Strike, will now enjoy a cooldown reduction every time Yi lands a basic attack. Highlander has also been reworked: rather than resetting all cooldowns if you score a kill while its up, it now passively reduces the cooldown on all of your abilities if you score a kill or an assist, even if it isn't currently active. These changes should make Yi feel like a more active champion.

As for other champions, Elise is getting some big nerfs due to her prominence in the competitive scene. Her spiderlings are now less tanky overall, and Rappel is being fixed so you can no longer "cheese" tower hits, or travel outside of its indicated range.

Ryze is having his spell range decreased, but given a speed boost on his ultimate, Desperate Power, to compensate. Twisted Fate's Loaded Dice passive no longer grants global gold, but instead gives Twisted Fate between 1-6 gold per kill.

A new item has been added in this patch: the Specter's Cowl. It provides 200 Health, 45 Magic Resist, and has a passive effect that grants +15 Health Regen per 5 seconds for up to 10 seconds after taking damage from an enemy champion. It builds into Spirit Visage and Banshee's Veil. This item is intended to make magic resist a more personal choice, rather than just relying on your support to pick up a Runic Bulwark, which has actually been removed from the game entirely.

The patch should be live now on all servers.

Not really, he's much more often played AP so all the damage (a stupid amount of it) was coming from Alpha Strike, especially after resets. I for one am happy to see this change.

Though seriously, what's with all the LoL-centric news posts on the escapist recently? It's just a patch

Awesome. He was my first champion in LoL so I'm excited to play him again. Playing him AP was pretty fun but it doesn't always work, especially if you can't get resets.

Actually, the biggest change to his Q is that it now does Phys dmg, and has an AD ratio. You can also get "yisets" on it, regardless of whether you're in ult or not.

He's hella fun now. AP Yi was cheezy and boring. A win-more champ, if you were behind even a little bit, you were useless, but if you were ahead you tore teams apart. AD Yi always felt bland and why not just play Trynd if you want to crit things? The new Yi's great =D Also, my Headhunter skin is now so very, very pretty...

Yeah, the change to Yi was to end AP Yi not to change AD Yi. (Both Alpha Strike and Meditate scaled from AP, now they scale from AD and remaining health respectively)

The Yi change has made AD Yi the only build and there is very little difference to the original AD Yi, who as you say just whacks on his opponents until they're dead.

Even though I play LoL, it still seems off to have an article about pretty bog-standard patch notes on a general gaming site.

It has zero informative / entertainment value for the ones who don't play LoL, and the ones who do have their patch notes in the launcher, so don't really need it.

I would give you more credit if you did more than just read the patch notes and write an article parroting it.

There's tons of developer commentary and community investment in this patch. You could have taken the time to look through Riot posts on the forums about it and take quotes from developers. You could have actually researched the patch and given more complete information For example, they reworked Master Yi for far more reasons than the one-click gameplay of one build. Did you even read the forum thread that was linked in the patch notes about this?.

This was also a missed opportunity to address why this is notable in the game industry. You could have wrote how Riot Games is putting effort into revamping their existing content so they meet quality standards, which is fairly unheard of in the industry. You could have talked about how this represents Tom Cadwell's design philosophy of counterplay. You could have said something that actually makes non-LoL players care.

This isn't just the byproduct of non-peak times. It's a byproduct of laziness.

We have a surprisingly high amount of LoL players on here. Several of the editors enjoy the game too. Does there need to be more reason?
Yes. Any League of Legends player will already know this information (the launcher links to the patch notes). Any non-League of Legends will not care.

So ends the reign on AP Yi. Now we get Master Crit.

Meet the new asshole, same as the old.

To each his own, but I don't like denying as part of the game.
Really? Denying low health team members is the most satisfying thing in the world.

Wonderful, an even more broken Yi. Just what we needed. Another good reason that I left LoL, I didn't need any more rage.

So LoL gets news for its patches, whilst games of similar publicity and amount of players like World of Tanks don't?
Well nothing against World of Tanks. But I'm pretty sure LoL is the most played game out right now. With something like 17 million current players. But you still bring up a good point. Why are patches news worthy for some games, but not others?

Why is this a news article? It's basically discussing patch notes for a game, and not even in depth. Anyone who cares already knows, and people who don't know probably don't care. There's no news here, and it comes off as catering to Riot and trying to get cheap news views. Pretty shameful "journalism".
