'German All Stars' Come Together For Unique Game Project

Red. Black. Fate is being developed by seven of Germany's best-known game studios working together as the "German All Stars."

"German All Stars" may not be the catchiest name ever, but it's a pretty cool idea: Black Forest Games (Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams), Cliffhanger Productions (Jagged Alliance Online), Daedalic Entertainment (Deponia, Night of the Rabbit), Deck 13 (Jack Keane), Keen Games (Anno 1701), King Art (Book of Unwritten Tales) and trailer production studio Virgin Lands have come together to work on a single project entitled Red. Black. Fate.

"Such a gathering of normally competing studios is something the industry hasn't seen in a long time," the group said in a statement. "We want to do away with marketing interests, revenue optimization and competition - and we want to do what unites all of us: Sharing our love and passion of developing games."

Each studio will contribute a "different gaming experience" as well as part of the overall development budget. A crowdfunding campaign is also planned to help support the project and other contributors are welcome to take part; so far companies including Dynamedion, Metric Minds, Nevigo, Pixable and Spec Ops: The Line studio Yager have joined the effort.

As to what exactly Red. Black. Fate is, well, that's a bit trickier. It's German, it's scheduled to come out in mid-2014 and a portion of the revenues generated will go to charity. The team said it will "consist of different gameplay experiences [with] creative and unusual concepts," but beyond that, all is shrouded in mystery. You can find out a little bit more about the team itself, however, at german-allstars.com [http://www.german-allstars.com].

"All Stars" is said a bit much. Aside from the guys who made Anno 1701 (also known as 1701 A.D.), none of these studios made it past the status of making niche games outside of Germany. And even here none of the mentioned titles, aside from Anno 1701, made it past being a niche filler.
to be honest that is better than most other german studios.

Apart from that the only one I can think of are crytek and phenomic and the last is disbanded

I wish them good luck, but from what history has shown it sometimes doesn't produce an amazing game.

For instance, I want to say that around 50 or so Japanese artists came together and created some PS2 title that I can't remember the name of. It wasn't received very well and as you can tell was widely forgotten.
