The Walking Dead Coming to Ouya

Telltale's The Walking Dead and the 400 Days DLC are coming to Ouya, and the first episode will be completely free.

Telltale's take on The Walking Dead, as you may have heard, is pretty good stuff. Our own good [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/9790-The-Walking-Dead-Episodes-1-2-Review]. And now they're both on their way to the Ouya.

"We're excited to bring The Walking Dead to Ouya," Telltale's Steve Allison said. "Telltale is a platform agnostic company and we love adding new platforms to our mix."

Based on the award-winning comic series and originally released in 2012 , The Walking Dead has claimed more than 90 "Game of the Year" awards. All five episodes of The Walking Dead: Season One as well as 400 Days will be released later this year, with the first episode completely free to play. Telltale says it will release the second season on Ouya as well.

Not bad, not bad at all. Although I suspect that most people who are going to play it have done so already, and I sincerely doubt it would be enough for somebody to pick up an Ouya if not already interested.

I am glad they have got such a well known and received game added to the line up though, hopefully it will at least get more people paying attention to the console.

Even if this won't be the killer app the Ouya needs, it will certainly help it a lot.

Now, what's required is some more of these releases, and the Ouya will finally be recognised as part of the "real console club".

Neat. Now if only the OUYA team can fix their marketing then the little-console-that-could might stop being the little-console-that's-crashing-and-burning.

That's pretty big news, first major title on the Ouya. I expect other companies will be watching to see if it's financially viable for any of their own products.

From my understanding the Ouya has a horrifically small install base however, doesn't bode well.

There's a free version of everything, yes. There's usually a better-for-pay version.
