Dead Rising 3 Map Will be Larger Than First Two Games' Combined

I hope you're ready for a lot more Dead Rising, folks.

Dead Rising 3 is going to be a much larger game than its predecessors, based on the size of its world map. Speaking with the Financial Post [http://business.financialpost.com/2013/09/10/dead-rising-3-is-flush-with-dark-horror-until-you-want-it-to-be-funny/?__lsa=6428-e15b], technical art director Liam Gilbride says DR3 will let players loose on an open world larger than Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2 put together.

An Xbox One launch title, Gilbride says that working with next-gen hardware has allowed developer Capcom Vancouver to take the next logical step in the evolution of the Dead Rising series, creating a truly open world. The team expects that players will use vehicles to travel at least 50 percent of time, given the size of the map.

"We wanted to go truly open-world this time around," says Gilbride. "No more load screens, with the biggest world we've ever been able to make, with loads of zombies."

Both Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2 used an open world-style structure, stringing together large, connected areas fostering non-linear gameplay. That approach led to long load times when moving from one area to the other. Gilbride says that eliminating that particular nuisance is a high priority for Dead Rising 3:

"We made that decision early on. So that became a big part of our decision making process," says Gilbride. "We kept have to ask 'How can we make this seamless?' while still getting all of the data that we needed to get in ... But it really hurt the user experience in DR2, hitting that load screen over and over and we wanted the world to feel bigger."

Dead Rising 3 will launch alongside the Xbox One November 22.

Oops!

OT: Two "HUGE MAPS" in one day. Is this the rise of the revenge of the cartographers?

Research that doesn't end up in reasons to hate what we hate more than we do should be ignored. I hate how Xbox One is always online.

OT: While this may sound exciting size isn't everything. If it's a lot of the same thing over and over then I could do without the enormous size. However they might just make another good game with the exception that there's more of it. We'll see.

Why would anyone want to find a reason to hate? Maybe its just me, but it seems counter productive to a healthy society.

No problem, sarcasm is hard to catch on text. I'd say you caught on quickly though. That is not sarcasm.

Sad to see escorts are sortta gone, but this kinda makes up for it. However I'm upset because Dead Rising vehicles so far have been crap so I hope it gets fixed. They also probably did it this way because bigness seems to be a thing now =/

Everything I hear about this game makes me more and more certain that they're turning it into Dead Island 3

They should make bigger text boxes the selling point of the game.

I gotta admit that I was bummed when I heard about the removal of the time limit, since that was a pretty huge part of the series. I always like how the games forced you to prioritize your objectives, and it gave it crazy amounts of replay value. This however is pumping me back up for it and, overall, I'm still losing my mind over this game (in a good way).

Well Dead Rising maps were never that big anyway, so it really doesn't surprise me though. Still wont change my opinion on all the other stuff they did to make this like every other game and not like dead rising
