SimCity's Futuristic Expansion Pack Touches Down in November

SimCity: Cities of Tomorrow will train the next generation of city planners.

When SimCity hit retail shelves in March, it was plagued with technical difficulties and customer complaints. And even though the title has been stable for quite some time, much of the player base remains skeptical. But Maxis, the developer behind SimCity, wants everyone to forget about the past and focus on the future.

SimCity: Cities of Tomorrow, the title's first expansion pack, will include several new regions, a handful of revolutionary specializations, a few unfamiliar transportation methods, and a collection of new technologies. So, you should have everything you'll need to craft your own futuristic dystopia.

"Will the world of tomorrow be a utopia powered by clean energy or an industrial society consumed by mass commercialism?" said Patrick Buechner, General Manager at Maxis Emeryville. "With SimCity Cities of Tomorrow, players can build the future as they imagine it. Transport your Sims on MagLev, power your cities with fusion reactors or tidal wave generators, manufacture a legion of drones to serve your Sims and build massive MegaTowers that dwarf modern skyscrapers. We're giving you plausible technologies to take your cities onto a journey 50 years into the future. What will you create?"

Cities of Tomorrow will be released on November 12th. Hopefully the launch will go smoothly this time.

EA, have you been paying any attention? We want bigger cities and offline mode. More "stuff" DLC isn't exactly enticing when we have nowhere to put it.

P.S. Thanks

This man speaks the truth. I find it funny that even EA realized how little space there is, so they made mega-towers to be mini-cities in your city in an attempt to make you stay playing after you filled the region in 2 hours.

i would say this would be really awesome for £5 or something

but with the blaring problems that are still persistent in the game i'm haven't even bothered to even give it a chance

they'd have to give this DLC for free before i considered playing again

by the way not sure if they fixed the retarded traffic AI but i like how they completely avoided a complete fix by making the most obvious problem causers (cops, ambulance, etc) flying drones so they aren't effected by the traffic anymore

In the future we can harness the power of the land, sea and the very atom itself!

....still working on those little white dots for the city limits.

Are the cites bigger? No
Can the game be played off line? No

Once you fix those glaring issues EA, than i'll consider buying your game and DLC.

Now if we could just use that future tech to remove that infuriating parasite of always online DRM, and break the impenetrable force shield of white dots surrounding the cities then I might actually consider giving them my money. After all they'd need all they could get in order to nurse this now stagnant, rotting, failed abortion of a game back to full health.

No offline, no larger maps, no service.

How the hell do you create a sprawling Coruscant-esque city on a town-sized plot of land, anyway?

Watching EA play with this franchise is like Weekend at Bernie's. They know they've killed it, they're just making the corpse dance for profit.

I echo the other comments made.

The game is hopelessly broken and no expansion pack that adds more content will fix that. I think I played the game for 2 weeks at most. Had one city start reach the "end game" point and realized how impossible growing the city any further was so I quit and haven't played since. And now EA thinks all I need is a $30 expansion pack and I'll be happy? Give us a enjoyable game first EA, then we can talk about extending your revenue on the game.

EA is run by greedy incompetent bastards who are totally out of touch with their customers.

Have they fixed the rain yet so it actually gives you more water Or do you still have to buy it from your neighbors?

Even if they had, I echo the comments above, not gonna be playing this again until they increase city limits. Offline mode however, I am not too bothered about although it would be nice but hey according to EA everyone loves playing online. I wonder if this has taught them anything.

Yeah, throw me in with the cacophony of "when everything else is half as good as simcity 4, i'll consider it".

Otherwise, shiny buildings aren't enough. I like them, I think its neat, but the simulation needs to do what the simulation should do before I buy the base game or an expansion.

Futuristic cities? You mean Anno 2070? Oh.. Simcity. Okay. Sure. Is it free?.. No?.. Ah. I'll just be standing and watching from the side then, thank you.

Build metropolis of great powerful technologies with buildings that could probably be built on water with said such technology and yet is still restricted by an small imaginary box plot.

The only way I can justify this DLC is if I imagine that the limited size of cities of the future is due to Alien bureaucracy and how EArth needs more money by dividing cities into tiny inefficient traffic nightmare human resource pit.

I'm sure you do Maxis. And I would like to (insert sexual act here) by a (insert attractive female here). I don't think either one of those things are going to happen with a high degree of effort.
