Viscera Cleanup Detail Cleans Up After Shadow Warrior

Flying Wild Hog and RuneStorm want players to clean the gibs they left behind with free DLC.

We all love games about space marines demolishing alien armies, but who pays respect to the ones that clean up afterwards? RuneStorm <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/125876-Viscera-Cleanup-Detail-Is-a-Space-Station-Janitor-Sim>actually did just that with Viscera Cleanup Detail, a Steam Greenlight title putting players in the boots of a janitor mopping up gore-soaked game environments. As it turns out, the concept was a big hit with Flying Wild Hog, the developer behind <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/10622-Shadow-Warrior-Review-Slice-Up-Some-Demons>the demon-evisceration simulator Shadow Warrior. Given that the two games naturally complement each other, their respective developers have teamed up for Viscera Cleanup Detail: Shadow Warrior, a crossover released for Shadow Warrior players as free DLC.

"When our team first saw Viscera Cleanup Detail on Steam Greenlight we absolutely loved with the idea of a person out there that had to clean up after big battles in FPS or horror games," said Flying Wild Hog studio head Michal Szustak. "RuneStorm has done a tremendous job in taking a key scene from Shadow Warrior and recreating its aftermath to form a fun and hilariously frustrating mini-game using the Viscera Cleanup Detail mechanics."

Viscera Cleanup Detail: Shadow Warrior puts your janitor on cleanup duty after Shadow Warrior's iconic battle with yakuza forces. Players will have to mop up their surroundings and incinerate countless gibs to ensure that the environment is just as clean as when Lo Wang first arrived. The DLC is essentially a standalone mini-game, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if other titles started following Flying Wild Hog's lead. After all, Viscera Cleanup Detail was recently accepted on Steam Greenlight; <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/trailers/7186-Poker-Night-2-Launch-Trailer>given Valve's previous videogame crossovers, perhaps Viscera's janitor will make a stop in Team Fortress 2 or Left 4 Dead 2's levels very soon. Lord knows they could use a little spit polish.

Nicely done. Good to see a dev team with a keen sense of self-parody. Just as in the film/movie Hot Fuzz when they complained about paperwork piles after action scenes...

As someone who just finished Shadow Warrior a few days ago, I have to say that this is kinda awesome. Good on FWH and RuneStorm for putting this together.

Wow... I absolutely loved the idea of this game when they showed the space station demo and after finishing SW, I'd LOVE to clean up my mess :3

If you can use your own saved game to clean up your own mess, that would be awesome.
