DC Universe Online PS4 Update Brings Forth The Pretty Pretty

Have a look at some of the iconic locations, post-update.

DC Universe Online, the superhero MMO from Sony, will look exceptionally pretty after Game Update 31, intended to prepare it for its PS4 launch. How pretty, you ask? Prettier than the Joker after a say at the spa, but for those of you who just have to see it to believe it, a before-and-after video is available. Get a gander at some of the game's iconic locations, and imagine what the rest of it will be like.

"We have corrected and improved hundreds of details in the environmental geometry throughout the game to bring a better, seamless experience to all players," says Executive Producer Larry Liberty, "and these changes will be in effect on all platforms, including the PlayStation 3." The update is intended to make the most difference to levels 1 to 30, which is where those new PS4 players will be spending a lot of their time. Replayable side quests and fun gadgets will also be yours, post-update.

The exact date of the PS4 release is still a mystery - early November, probably, say the developers - but Update 31 should be live on PC and PS3 this week. "We want to thank all of our loyal players for making DC Universe Online such a success on all platforms over the last three years," says Liberty. "We can't wait for you to experience what's next."

All I can make out is that they very slightly tweaked the colour and light levels. Maybe I've just lost too much interest in this game to see any difference though.

I would check it out, but Sony and/or Prosieben have stolen my account (and all the stuff I paid for) from me. It was a good game, but I won't be going back despite being a DC fanboy.

eh ....

not really a huge difference, but i'm kind over the game to, so that could be hindering me from 'seeing' the real differences *shrugs*

I forgot this game still exists... Mainly because after hitting max level the game sort of lost interest. I found the playthrough fun though, nice to see its still around.

People still play this game? Then again people are still playing Warhammer online. I shouldn't be surprised. I heard servers are ghost towns these days.

Hnnn WoW kinda makes these kinda tweeks and changes without making any hoo-har about it already... I mean look at the fire effects in WoW from 2004 next to now, when you actually stop and look it's astonishing. But they don't really tell you or make it out to be anything special. Their fansites do it, which is why I keep feeding that beast money. They use it, and use it well. Their patches now amount to content that a decade ago could be considered expansion material.

This does little to make me wanna go back into DCUO. I just don't like the style of it to start with sadly. Though for what it is, it's solid and has improved on quite a bit since it's release.

Remember when people argued over which MMO was the superior choice and forgot that people's tastes and free time are all spent in unique and different ways and arguing about such semantics anywhere on the internet is fucking childish?

Good for the PS4 players I guess, but for me DCUO kinda loses its charm after the first playthrough or so.

YOU get darker! And YOU get darker! EVERY LOCATION gets darker!

Then again, it's not a bad thing, and it's consistent.

Remember back in the good old days when WoW was the only major MMO? Remember how long people stuck with it?
