Rocksteady's Next Game May Come Out in 2014

It sounds like Rocksteady will have a new game ready to ship next year that may or may not be about Batman.

It's been less than a month since two Batman: Arkham games hit stores, but apparently there's no time to sit back and enjoy them before news about a new Batman game swoops in to steal their thunder. The next game from Arkham Asylum and Arkham City developer Rocksteady, rumored to the next entry in the Arkham franchise, may be on track to launch in 2014.

A set of website [http://cghubtxy.cghub.com/jobs/view/4883/].

Such circumstantial evidence wouldn't mean much, except this isn't the first news tying Rocksteady to an unannounced Batman title. A Report from silver age of comics [http://variety.com/2012/film/news/warner-bros-super-vision-for-justice-league-1118056432/]. The silver age, which ran roughly from 1950 to 1970, suggests the game may feature a decidedly retro style.

While one might guess that such a drastic tonal shift might prompt Rocksteady to drop the Arkham title, there is evidence that Rocksteady's presumed Batman title is, in fact, Arkham 4. Voice actor Kevin Conroy, who voiced the Dark Knight in Asylum and City, but not Arkham Origins, told fans at Dallas Comic-Con earlier this year that he's done voice work for "the next Arkham game." [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/124151-It-Looks-Like-Kevin-Conroy-Will-Be-Batman-After-All] Though technically inaccurate, you get the idea: Conroy's statement suggests that someone is working on another Arkham game.

The bottom line is Rocksteady is working on a new game, and there's a pretty good chance Batman will be in it. We won't get the full story on what's been happening at Rocksteady until they're ready to share. Until then, it's never too early to start adding games to your E3 wish list.

This goes to support my theory that Arkham Origins is just a filled-game. I'm pretty sure that when Origins was being made, Rocksteady was already busy on some other project, and now that they've finished that (I'm hoping) they're ready to start working on the REAL next chapter in the Arkham series, the one that takes place after Arkham City.

Fingers crossed for an open world Batman Arkham game set in the Beyond timeline.

I'd give up an arm to fund such majesty.

So... Kevin Conroy is still voicing Batman then? Just not Origins? Huh... I wonder why he did that?

Warner bro's probably didn't want us to forget about the Arkham series, so gave WBM a smaller budget to produce an Arkham game, but not to interfere with Rocksteady's story. Smaller budget probably meant no Conroy or Hamill.

Makes sense if you think about it.

Well, I know that Hamill said that he'd retire indefinitely as the Joker after City (a fine end, since the Joker dies at the end of the game), but Conroy just dropped out of the role for no reason at all, though I do have my own theories as to why.

Or maybe they just didn't want a 57-year old Conroy voicing Young!Batman. It's not always about the money.

No no no no no no no no no no no!

Don't destroy this franchise with yearly releases WB. Don't do what Ubisoft did to Assassin's Creed, I'm begging you!

I've been saying this since Origins was announced and now EVERYBODY'S saying it. Pfffff. I called it from the get go. I was right about them not casting Conroy and that Dini wouldn't be involved. Of course they've been working on this for a while. It's why they made Origins, for yearly releases. That sucks, in a way, but I'm cool with it. I doubt it'd be set in the Batman of the Future universe, though. It might but I doubt it. I'd rather they didn't, yet. I wanna see every seed they planted in City come to a conclusion, first.
