Borderlands 2 Gets Festive With Christmas DLC

Borderlands 2's third Headhunter DLC pack, How Marcus Saved Mercenary Day, will released on December 17.

Last month saw the release of Borderlands 2: How Marcus Saved Mercenary Day [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/129826-Thanksgiving-Comes-to-Borderlands-2-in-New-Themed-DLC], a Christmas-themed DLC due out later this month.

The DLC will hit Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Mac, and PC on December 17 and set you back just $2.99. Like the previous headhunter packs, it will include a new mission as well as unlockable heads and skins for each character.

How Marcus Saved Mercenary Day's exclusive mission takes the vault hunters to the town of Gingerton, in the snowy land of Frost Bottom, where Marcus asks them to investigate a train full of guns that's gone missing on its way to Gingerton. As you uncover the mystery of the missing "presents", you'll get ti battle the terrifying Mr. Tinder Snowflake, a Snowman boss character whose head you can claim for winning the fight.

Unlike Ravenous Wattle Gobbler and TK Baha's Bloody Harvest [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/128753-Borderlands-2-Gets-New-TK-Bahas-Bloody-Harvest-DLC-October-22], the unlockable head in How Marcus Saved Mercenary Day is completely unique for each of the game's six playable characters.

Gearbox also teased that more Headhunter content was coming to Borderlands 2 in 2014.

I really, really hope that gearbox gets their shit together regarding DLC in the future. Why aren't any of the Headhunter packs included with the season pass? Why does the GoTY edition have stuff the season pass doesn't?......and why doesn't it include the headhunter stuff? I highly enjoy the Borderlands series but the DLC for #2 is a mess.

It's not included in the season pass because, unlike the four DLC expansions that are included, these weren't planned when the season pass was released & priced. The season pass was, basically, Gearbox saying; "We're going to make four DLC expansions and we don't know what they are yet, but they'll cost $10 each. But if you pay us for them now, you can have all four for $30."

They finished making and released those four batches of DLC, and now they're making some more, so they're not included in the season pass and the season pass was never priced to include them.

The GOTY edition includes stuff that the season pass doesn't because the GOTY edition is an "everything up to this point" collection, not a "original game and season pass content" edition.

All reasonable and acceptable explanations (well, as reasonable and acceptable as anything that includes a season pass can ever be) but confusing as hell, for sure. To think, all of this could have been avoided by simply not having a season pass at all. No gamers demanding to know why their season pass won't give them content it never purported to give them, no confusion over which release includes which content, and no controversy over the fact that the season pass exists in the first place.
