Image Comics Integrates its DRM-Free Digital Comics With Dropbox

Sync your digital issues from Image Comics across all your devices using cloud storage service Dropbox.

Image Comics, the publisher of the cloud storage and file sharing service Dropbox [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/130037-Hawkeye-and-Saga-Make-Official-Selection-List-at-Comics-Festival] to make sure you have access to your latest issues on any device that supports the Dropbox app.

Through the Image website, a new "Save to Dropbox" option is available for all the comics in your collection. Clicking the "Save to Dropbox" button will prompt you to log in to your Dropbox account and let you select a folder to save your comics in. Once saved, you can read the comic in the integrated Dropbox Reader application, or through any digital comics reader you have installed. On the Image website, you can see exactly which issues you have (or haven't) saved to Dropbox.

Dropbox stores your files, makes them available via the Dropbox website, and synchronizes those files to a folder on each of your devices running Dropbox. The application is available free for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Free mobile applications are available for Android, iOS, Blackberry, and Kindle Fire. Dropbox accounts begin with 2 GB of storage, but can gain additional storage (up to 16 GB) by referring friends. Pro versions of Dropbox start at $9.99/month for 100 GB of storage.

Image Comics' integration with Dropbox is an interesting alternative to digital comics storage and organization, and being DRM-free sets it apart from platforms like ComiXology or the iTunes Store.

I personally can't think of a particular reason I'd be buying Image comics, but I like the move.

Sweet, now you can have a few excellent series, as well as a mountain of garbage in an all new and convenient system. Now when you read your terribly dated issues of Spawn and take in the WONDEROUS art work of Rob Liefeld, you can do so without having to worry about DRM. Happy days!

Better than reading the crap that's going on in Marvel and DC these days.

Things have been different at Image for a long while, its one of the most diverse comics publishers around with tons of great series and the most active role Liefeld has is head of Extreme Studios which publishes some great series from small creators (Prophet is criminally underrated even among Image comics)
