Alien: Isolation Not Coming to Wii U

[tweet t=https://twitter.com/AlienIsolation/statuses/420718994174124033]

Alien: Isolation looks set to push the Wii U out an airlock.

The Alien franchise, at its core, is about being trapped in stifling location and threatened by a foe that has you completely and utterly outmatched in every imaginable fashion. Alien: Isolation, in turn, thus far seems to be aiming <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/previews/10872-Alien-Isolation-Reveal-Preview>to be a faithful recreation of that sort of experience.

That said, it's looking as though not everyone will get a chance to partake in Isolation's terrors. While releases for PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One and PC have all been confirmed, Creative Assembly and Sega haven't given much lip service to the Wii U until recently. Unfortunately for fans of Nintendo's console, the prospects for a Wii U edition don't seem to be the best. Responding to an inquiry about a Wii U version, the official Alien: Isolation Twitter account replied that "we don't have plans to put the game on the Wii U."

While perhaps not unexpected considering <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/127421-Nintendo-Too-Late-To-Attract-Third-Party-Support-Bethesda-Says>the reluctance of many third party developers and publishers to invest in Wii U games, it's nonetheless a shame. After all, this may be a case where the Wii U could actually be uniquely equipped to deliver the best, most authentic version of the game. While I suppose you could some second screen stuff with the PS4 and Xbox One, the Wii U control pad could make serve as a natural, tangible stand-in for the series' iconic motion sensor. Sadly, it looks as though that will never be as one more game passes the Wii U by.

Whether or not it might be a more authentic experience, by this point I doubt anyone's surprised that the Wii U won't be supported on any given game.

Unless Nintendo stops supporting it. That would be surprising.

Not surprising, still disappointing, only because of the lost-chance on the Motion tracking Game-pad.

Is anyone proofreading these articles? Seems like everything I've read the last two days has been full of obvious typos and errors. I feel like someone is asleep at the wheel here.

Back on topic; I don't see how this could surprise anyone. Nowadays I just assume a game is definitely not coming to Wii unless I see official confirmation. This is a system that's on it's way out, no doubt in my mind.

I have to be honest... no one should be getting too excited about this. I don't have anything against them, but Creative Assembly is not known for a game of this type AND the last few games they released have been buggy as hell. I'm just saying, we are all looking forward to a good Aliens game after Colonial Marines, but I'm not going to hold my breath about this.

Really? Lets not port it to the system that has similar architecture to the 360 and has giant screen in the control that could be your motion tracker. Porting it should at least break even. Wii U owners and potential owners want games for the thing. And, most Wii U owners aren't kids; they're older teenagers and adults who like Nintendo nostalgia and new stuff. Mom doesn't know about the Wii U. The little tykes have a 3DS or a cheep tablet since mom can buy them cheep games. It looks like another Nintendo console is going to only be supported by first party titles.

Honestly, the Alien franchise became like the Sonic franchise is now after the second movie. Hyped up previews that end in disappointment on release day, with maybe a decent tittle once a in while. Alien 3, the crossover movies, and Colonial Marines especially betrayed fans. At least Sonic got 3 good games(counting 3 and S&K together).

That just ain't fair, even last gen consoles get the game and Wii U still gets nada from these guys?, peh.

I was rather looking forward to grabbing this on a Wii U since I still want a motion tracker on the screenpad but i guess that's not ever going to happen.

That's a shame. Developers aren't even being forced to accommodate the Wiimote anymore, and some of them still won't adapt their games for the thing. I could see this working with the gamepad pretty nicely, but oh well.

After the last two Alien games, I'm not exactly excited for this one, even if different people have their hands on it.

I generally couldn't care less about any game being released on the Wii U at all (I'm okay with it just having first party games, but w/e, that's a discussion for another day), but the thought of using the Wii U controller as an actual motion tracker just... why isn't this a thing!? D:

I'm still cautiously optimistic about this game though, but it's a real shame this isn't coming to the Wii U.

To be honest, its only news if a third party game IS coming to the Wii U; the 15/18 rated market is not where the Wii U is. shame because I really want some more reasons to buy a Wii U other then Bayonetta two, nintendo's first party games never interest me for long.

You expected 3rd parties to do their jobs properly? You're talking about companies who have rendered their business models unable to make even simple ports because they spend too damn much for their own good. Furthermore, Nintendo won't moneyhat companies like Sony and MS. I say expect more of this crap as the years go on. At this rate I expect when the Wii U DOES turn around (and it will, as history has shown) 3rd parties will STILL ignore the system. It's just a sad fact of the gaming industry at this point

Actually, Goldeneye isn't third party because it was made by Rare, back when they were owned by Nintendo, it's either first party or second. The first third party game on the list is actually Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire.

EDIT: Also, Tetris on the NES and Gameboy was published by Nintendo, so I'm not sure if that counts as third party.
