The Big Lebowski Re-Imagined as an 8-Bit Video Game

This amazing video shows us the amazing 8-bit The Big Lebowski video game we desperately need to exist.

The folks over a Cinefix hare put together this amazing re-telling of The Big Lebowski in the form of an 8-bit (and sometimes 16-bit) video game. Unfortunately, it's just a video, although we desperately wish we could actually play it.

The video follows most of The Dude's journey, from writing a sixty cent check for milk, to getting his rug peed on, to challenging Jesus to a bowling match, all the while making sure to pick up as many White Russians along the way as he can.

It's a neat little tribute to one of the greatest movies ever made, and that's really pretty much all I have to say about it! Enjoy.

My favorite film of all time. It's just so fun to watch. It's like a roller coaster that you love yet have more times than you can count.

Also, I'd love to see this done as if it was in Code Monkeys.

OK. I admit, this movie is on my top 5 all time, any time watchable movies list. No arguments of its quality. None. And this "8-bit" representation (more like 16-bit since it looks like an SNES game than a true 8-bit) is awesome.
IT does make me wonder sometimes just why I love this movie. I can't find a straight answer, and it doesn't need one.

I never really got The Big Lebowski. I watched it twice... am I missing something? I thought John Goodman's part was well acted, but beyond that I was stymied.

I think it's the whole appeal of the movie. I just don't see it, is all. What is it about the movie that you like - aside from the gift of White Russians, of course?

Hmm, well, besides the White Russians, it less about some deep, meaningful idea behind the plot, and more just watching the events unfold in the movie, and laughing at it. The movie, as I see it, is really about some (below)average guy get sucked into a series of events that sort of snowball into more outlandish things. Just watching "The Dude" getting his head dunked into a toilet while some guy pisses on his rug snowball into a kidnapping, drug trips, John Goodman jumping out of a car with a Uzi and a bag full of briefs, and everything else... its just funny. It is a series of events that get more and more crazy as they move on, and "The Dude" just go along with it being dragged along with it. You expect this stuff to happen to some kind of action hero or something, but instead its happen to, what amounts to, just some guy.

I think the appeal simply comes from watching what amounts to a normal guy being thrown head first into a series of events, and watching him simply "abide".

Wow- aptly put, Wandering Fool. I can now see your appreciation of The Big Lebowsky. Thanks for the response!

My only disappoint with that was not having a snippet of the music video/dream sequence in it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=od_6M8cFdUA
