The Elder Scrolls Online's Voice Cast Includes Monty Python, Harry Potter Actors

The Elder Scrolls Online will include performances from John Cleese, Michael Gambon, Malcolm McDowell and Jennifer Hale, among others.

The Elder Scrolls games have, in recent years, made a habit of snagging notable celebrities and actors to fill out the voice cast of its games. Oblivion, for instance, had Patrick Stewart and Sean Bean Stark. Skyrim, in turn, employed the services of Michael Hogan and Claudia Christian. Bethesda Softworks, in turn, has revealed that The Elder Scrolls Online will feature a similarly star-studded cast including actors from Monty Python, Harry Potter and Mass Effect.

According to a release from Bethesda, players venturing into The Elder Scrolls Online can expect voice work from film actors including John Cleese (Monty Python and the Holy Grail), Bill Nighy (Pirates of the Caribbean), Kate Beckinsale (Underworld), Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2), Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange and Michael Gambon (Harry Potter). Additionally, Wonder Woman actress Lynda Carter will reprise her role from Skyrim, while veteran voice performers like Jennifer Hale (Mass Effect) will also feature in the game.

The roles these actors play in ESO will be fairly diverse. John Cleese, for instance, will feature as Cadwell, a "cheerful and endearingly mad lost soul who is not afraid of anyone." Michael Gambon, in turn, will play the "mysterious" Prophet while Malcolm McDowell (who's always fun) will fill the role of Molag Bal, an "evil Daedric god" out for the souls of Tamriel. All in all, it's a really decent mix of voice talent that has us even more excited for the finished product.

They get Christopher Plummer and Max Von Sydow for Skyrim, and your examples are Michael Cylon Hogan and Claudia Christensen?

Considering you speak to Cadwell for all of about 5 minutes in the tutorial area, it seems like a waste of John Cleese's talents.

Reminds me of Fable 3. Cleese had some decent lines in that game, but so much of the voice cast was wasted on pointless cameos. At least Stephen Fry turned in another good performance as Reaver.

To be fair, the remake kind of started to suck after season two. Still, Tigh was awesome.

i was all set to rage at a poorly researched article, based on the line of "Wonder Woman actress reprises her role" knowing who she played in Skyrim and knowing that the character wouldn't be born for over a thousand years, but decided to do some last minute fact-checking, and discovered that she is not only married to ZeniMax's CEO, but voices Azura, which i'm assuming is her role again.

as a side note, i hope they go with the Oblivion version of Sheogorath as opposed to the Skyrim version. both in voice and character.

Charles Muntz, Georg Johannes Von Trapp, GENERAL KANG? Yeah, I like Mr Hogan, but he's no Plummer.

Speaking of plumbers, Charles Martinet was Paarthurnax.

Malcolm McDowell played Mancar Camoran, the main villain in Oblivion. And I thought I heard John Cleese while in beta!

From what i have heard that is the game all over, lots of good ideas but watered down for an MMO and so all feels anemic.

Oh good, Another game in which I can listen to Jennifer Hale's breathy and over dramatic voice with people constantly reminding me about how amazing she is.

That's great, now I can put my mind at ease about where all the budgeting went. This seems rather pointless. Cool, but pointless. I'd rather they put that money towards further development than on voice actors that could potentially remind me that I'm playing a video game because some of those are quite recognizable.

The game is shit, isn't it? No, really. Well, if it isn't why the hell did you try to distract us with "LOOK! FAMOUS MOVIE ACTORS!"? Hmmm?

Try saying that on the BSN and watch what happens.
Trust me I did once.

I still go to therapy to handle it
