Final Fantasy XIV is AbleGamers' Accessible Game of the Year

AbleGamers handed out six awards recognizing achievements for accessibility in gaming this year.

The AbleGamers Charity announced their list of the year's scored 9.1 in AbleGamers' review, which rates the game on its accessibility in terms of mobility, visuals, and hearing.

Naoki Yoshida, producer and director of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, says, "We are very honored to receive AbleGamers' Mainstream Game of the Year Award. In terms of the visual aspect, especially how color is displayed, we took in the players' feedback and continuously performed updates so that any player from around the world can enjoy the game, and are firmly committed to this moving forward. I would like to formally express my gratitude to AbleGamers for recognizing our efforts." AbleGamers believes that with a few minor fixes in upcoming patches, A Realm Reborn could achieve a perfect score of 10.

AbleGamers announced five other awards. The Stanley Parable [http://www.paradoxplaza.com/] was awarded best accessible indie game of the year.

The AbleGamers Foundation is a an accessibility best practices guide [http://www.ablegamers.com/] for game developers.

I still got mixed feelings towards the game in the long term, but otherwise it is a pretty enjoyable game much like World of Warcraft was in its day. They just need to work on improving crafting to make it worth doing again. Final Fantasy XIV still has one of the more interactive crafting systems available, yet at the same time they've unfairly handicapped it at the moment due to the level of the top teir gear. Also they still have to work on getting Bahamuts Coil and it's per week lockout system working in the Duty Finder. Not a major issue given teleports, but it would help unify the dungeon and raid system.

Good to hear. Glad the game is getting such good press. I've had an amazing time with it since launch and it would be nice to see a subscription-based game that was brought back from the dead silence some critics.

After taking a look at their website it would be cool if publishers started to push this kind of features and support.

Well, Borderlands 2 just now added colorblind settings so that's a start.

We (our group from here) love this game... But one of our people got hacked and all the money from the guild bank was stolen. It's been a week and we still haven't gotten any news from Square on it they're going to restore it or not. Their customer service is terrible. The hackers and gil sellers are a plague.

Play the game, but be careful.

If only we'd been careful. Now there's about 8 of us who are just so frustrated we won't even log in.
