Superman and Jesse Eisenberg Face Off in Spoof Video
A new video has cut together footage of Jesse Eisenberg with Man of Steel to give a peek at the new Lex Luthor in action.
Some of the more interesting recent news to come out Zack Snyder's Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman crossover sequel to Man of Steel, is that the film will be employing actor <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/131876-Jesse-Eisenberg-Cast-as-Lex-Luthor-Jeremy-Irons-as-Alfred-in-Man-of-Steel-Sequel>Jesse Eisenberg as its Lex Luthor. It was a casting choice that likely took many by surprise but still made a sort of sense. The character of Luthor, much akin to Eisenberg's portrayal of Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network, is as much an obsessive genius as he is a villain. In other words, while Eisenberg might need to lose a few curls to look the part, he's played comparable characters before.
That in mind, the folks at Screen Junkies have <a href=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIntDen7fv0&feature=youtu.be>put together a video to give viewers a little taste of how Eisenberg's Luthor might look opposed to Henry Cavill's Superman. Granted, the video is pretty blatantly played for laughs, but it actually does a decent job of using some of Eisenberg's sterner acting moments to put across how he might look as an adversary to the last son of Krypton.
In fact it has some spots where I can actually see Eisenberg pulling the role off. He has an ability to be cold and arrogant that could work very much in his favor. The only problem, in my opinion, is his voice. Granted, my perception of Lex tends to be colored by <a href=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZcOmIN4o8Y&feature=player_detailpage#t=169>Clancy Brown's excellent portrayal from the Superman animated series. That said, when Eisenberg speaks, I just don't hear someone with the sort of command that I expect from the character. Here's hoping he can get past that.
