London Bus Shelter Scares Commuters with Tigers, Giant Octopi

I hope Pepsi turned this off before last orders at the pub. I really, really do.

OK, picture this: you're sitting on your own, waiting for the 129 Greenwich and Cutty Sark bus - or whichever it may be - when, without warning, a giant octopus squicks out of the nearest storm drain, eats a pedestrian, and then wriggles back into the dark. What do you do next?

If your answer was laugh, you're on the right track. This London bus shelter trickery comes courtesy of Pepsi Max, who rigged up this thought experiment to sell soda. It's all done with cameras and glass, not a million miles away from the old Pepper's Ghost [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pepper%27s_ghost] illusion.

I just hope Pepsi turned this off before last orders at the pub. Now there's a brown trousers moment waiting to happen!

Somewhat surprised they didn't got for the "guy opens a can of Coke and gets hit by the 129 to Greenwich" trick.

Also, I think we have just drains.

Ok that is pretty danm awesome. They should install that in most bus shealter in the UK. It will make waiting for the bus entertaining that is until everyone get bored with the same bizzare sequences.

*Octopi is not a word. -i is used for Latin words ending in -us, this is not one of them. The second half is -pus, a Greek ending meaning "foot".

Octopus has three acceptable plurals in English:
1 Octopus 2 Octopus - mainly used by marine biologists
1 Octopus 2 Octopodes - the "proper" plural, from Greek (1 -pus 2 -podes)
1 Octopus 2 Octopuses - normal English plural.

----

Grammar nazi helmet off: cool commercial. I'd love to see that in my country.

Thanks for saving me the trouble. :p Although this mistake isn't as bad as 'penii'... God that one makes my skin crawl.

Also ontopic: I would have done this a lot subtler. Maybe show someone being mugged so the illusion would have lasted a little longer.

See, if ads were this awesome more often, people would gladly watch them rather than walk around with tunnel vision. Using augmented reality like this is great and, really, should be done in more actual games as well.

If it is anything like every bus shelter in Donny then it would take roughly two hours for the damn thing to be smashed or someone to draw boobs on it.

This is really great. It's just too bad I can't stand the taste of Pepsi Max.
