Closer to Roald Dahl than strictly fairy tale.

Wait...a game that puts you in the role of a confused young being with a fairy companion to overcome various troubles in a wonderous land full of colourful peril?? That ISNT a zelda rehash?!? Im sold!!

Seriously though, as an "aspiring" artist and writer, this really interests me and i am glad there is still hope for majestic creativity in video games for the future.

Was about to feel down that you only mentioned it running on the PC and that I wouldn't get to play it, but it's coming out for everything! Yay! Seriously though, it's so good to see a game that's being made just because the creators wanted to make it, not because it was safe or a sequel or a direct ripoff of something popular.

Unique storytelling style, interesting art, being released for PC? You get my money.

I find it interesting that some of the larger studios are splitting off smaller teams to make creatively risky titles on a smaller budget. It seems like everyone has noticed that there is power in the indie model (and the potential for a huge return on investment despite the relatively small risk involved) and wants in. For now I think that's probably a good thing. After all, most everyone I know has been saying bloated dev budgets are in danger of sinking the whole industry for years now.

Looks super cute, I'd love to play it.
Also asymmetrical co-op is a thing I wouldn't mind. There's an aspect to it that often gets overlooked: the role of the watcher. When you're invested in the game itself, there's a tunnel vision that can make you miss things, but if you don't have to worry about where you're going as much, it lets you sort of take more in and maybe find some things just one person wouldn't.

Been looking forward to this for a while. The combat seems very Grandia-ish and the aesthetics are just wonderful. May even be a day 1 buy.

Nice try, but I watch anime.
One call, and you're on a list mate!

The game looks interesting but that guy in the video does a terrible job of selling it. All I heard was "uhh umm uhhh" and all I thought was "please shut up and please hold the damn mic with one hand."

Pointless complaining aside, I'll keep an eye out for a trailer that doesn't piss me off because it looks very nice.

Haha, this is exactly what I thought when he said that.

"A young girl is definitely not who you're used to seeing as your viewpoint, maybe, in a videogame..."

*Ahem*

Aquaria, The Last of Us, Resident Evil 4, American McGee's Alice, Our Darker Purpose, Lucidity, They Bleed Pixels, Silent Hill 3, Fable 2 & 3, Pokemon, The Simpsons Game, and The Path; those are just a list of games off the top of my head where a young (age 5-21) girl is playable (for at least a portion of the game if not the entirety). Arguably I could put the Binding of Isaac on that list too, yes he is a young boy, but you can have him put on a wig, lipstick and high-heels and call himself Magdalene so...

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade or anything--the game does look interesting, and a girl in the starring role is always welcome--but still, let's not get carried away here. Blanket statements sink ships, or something like that.

Does have a great art-style, though, and I can't help but go a little gooey over any-and-all kinds of fairytale fantasy, and I have to appreciate that they seem pretty dedicated to the quality of the writing and characterization in conjunction with gameplay so I'm feeling tentatively positive about this (I had similar hopes about Lucidity, and what a disappointment that turned out to be).

It seems that blanket statements are the theme with selling this game, though. Didn't you hear what he said about removing frustration from games because challenge doesn't belong in the future of gaming?
I mean, this game looks amazing and I'm definitely excited for it, but that's a rather unsettling attitude for a game developer to have.
"Okay for our next RPG, I say we take out all the difficulty and challenge that people love and replace it with... vehicle-based platforming."
Yes I am referencing a joke that is not mine.

Except he didn't make a blanket statement, "not used to seeing" is not "never see". And considering that there are single series and franchises capable of reaching the 13 games you listed, I think it's a pretty fair statement to make that it's hardly the norm.
