"A young girl is definitely not who you're used to seeing as your viewpoint, maybe, in a videogame..."
*Ahem*
Aquaria, The Last of Us, Resident Evil 4, American McGee's Alice, Our Darker Purpose, Lucidity, They Bleed Pixels, Silent Hill 3, Fable 2 & 3, Pokemon, The Simpsons Game, and The Path; those are just a list of games off the top of my head where a young (age 5-21) girl is playable (for at least a portion of the game if not the entirety). Arguably I could put the Binding of Isaac on that list too, yes he is a young boy, but you can have him put on a wig, lipstick and high-heels and call himself Magdalene so...
Not trying to rain on anyone's parade or anything--the game does look interesting, and a girl in the starring role is always welcome--but still, let's not get carried away here. Blanket statements sink ships, or something like that.
Does have a great art-style, though, and I can't help but go a little gooey over any-and-all kinds of fairytale fantasy, and I have to appreciate that they seem pretty dedicated to the quality of the writing and characterization in conjunction with gameplay so I'm feeling tentatively positive about this (I had similar hopes about Lucidity, and what a disappointment that turned out to be).
