Blizzard's Azeroth Choppers Web Series Premieres Today

Two teams compete to build World of Warcraft-inspired motorcycles, and the winning design will become an in-game mount.

World of Warcraft players can be very particular about their mounts, and motorcycle lovers are no different. Blizzard is bringin the two together in Azeroth Choppers, its new weekly web series. Blizzard Entertainment has teamed up with Paul Jr. Designs, the motorcycle design company known for its work on the television series American Chopper, to create World of Warcraft-themed choppers. Two teams, one for the Horde and one for the Alliance, will compete to produce the best bike. The winning bike, selected by the World of Warcraft community, will be added as an in-game mount. The first episode of the series premieres today. The series will run for eight episodes, with new episodes airing on Thursday afternoons.

"In World of Warcraft for years, we've had bikes and choppers and trikes roaming all the different lands," says Sam Didier, Art Director at Blizzard and head of the Horde team. Introducing the project to Paul Jr. in the first episode, Didier says, "Our request today is one bike - Alliance, one bike - Horde, and then after these are all built we would let our community, our brothers and sisters in the World of Warcraft, decide which one has the most chops." Leading the Alliance team is Chris Metzen, Blizzard Entertainment's Senior Vice President of Story and Franchise Development. Three custom motorcycle experts from Paul Jr. Designs join each team for the competition.

The first episode shows off the basic frames that each team will be working with, a trike platform featuring tank treads and a tractor tire for the Horde bike and a massive but sleek motorcycle with imposing treads for the Alliance bike. I'm pretty partial to my Dreadsteed, but I can see my Warlock riding an flaming red-and-chrome chopper. What do you think of the bikes so far?

Not a fan of the treads but they are for show and not practical riding I guess. Sad that the Horde will definitely take it. Alliance stand no chance

They both look silly, the horde chopper looks even sillier though. Neither one is really a bike they both look like some sort of messed up snowmobile.

I am not sure why they went with treads... I was hoping more for a regular style motorcycle. Dunno if I am more disappointed that they liked it or the bike concepts.

Yeah that was pretty much my take.
Been riding since I was 15, so close to 40 years and I wouldn't be caught dead on either of them.
But what really disappoints me is other than one being a trike and the other a bike, they're both the same bike. Paul could of done all tracks on the trike and all tractor type wheels on the bike and they would of looked different. Instead they're both variations on the same shitty design. Don't really care how much blizzard hypes this thing up , it's a major fail for me.

Server populations:
Alliance: ~52%
Horde: ~47%
Undeclared Pandaren: ~1%

Alliance does have edge in population, but usually the Horde are more vocal, and it comes down to the design of the bikes too: So it is anyone game at this point.

So one side will get a mount and the other won't? Someone at Blizzard better set flameshields to maximum...

I'm aware of the population difference but in my experience Horde players tend to have more faction pride and are more vocal as you said. It probably will be close but I'm assuming the Horde will win. Plus all the competitive people go Horde and this is a competition :)
