They have not "recently cast" Gal Gadot, she was cast over a month ago.

And these selections are terrible.

Some of these choices seem a bit too based on "these actresses are good in x, therefore they will be good as Wonder Woman", but I do agree with choices 1, 3, 6, and especially 7.

They really sell the "I can beat the crap out of you with my bare fists" mentality surrounding Wonder Woman, without their presence being out-right barbarian.

#1 could work, but #7's where it's at. Gwendoline Christie is a solid actress, and when not uglied up to play Brienne of Tarth is actually gorgeous. Shame she's busy with GoT for the immediate future. GRRM hasn't gotten around to offing her just yet...

Gotta agree with ya there, having just googled Gwen Christie, she could totally make a great Wonder Woman, I had no idea they dressed her down for GoT, I just assumed that that was how she looked "normally". She's tall, she's tough, she has a great presence as Brienne of Tarth, she has her swordplay down, she's got the right physique, stick her in a black wig and on with the show!

Jennifer Lawrence? Ehhh nah. She's good as Mystique, but I'm not really sure she'd work as Wonder Woman. And Hunger Games is not a point in her favour, not only is the film pretty underwhelming, she's...really, really poor in that film.

Lastly, Zoe Saldana is black. C'mon, you just put that in there to troll people, right?

Karen Gillan or Jennifer Lawrence? yeahh... glad they didn't do that. i'm not keen on either of their acting abilities tbh. some of the other choices aren't terrible though

Gina Carano was always a good choice. She's got the brawn, the talent, the sex appeal and she's dating freaking Superman for crying out loud. The rest of your choices are horrible though. Annie from Community? Fucking Katniss? Why not throw in Hermione while you're at it?

Yeah, these are mostly horrible. Gina and Gwendoline could have been good choices, but, even at 46 I think Lucy Lawless would have been awesome.

I was against Saldana, too, but not because she's black (there are plenty of non-white amazons in Themyscira, IIRC). I just think she's got the wrong ethos. (And I honestly don't think she's very attractive.)

My word I don't agree with most of these at all. Eva Green would actually be a good choice. Jaime Alexander isn't on the list but would be very good.

The rest of this list is pretty bad, Zoe Saldana, Jennifer Lawrence and Karen Gillan are REALLY bad choices.

Yeah, lets just let jenifer Lawrence do everything because she's soooo dreammyyy..... for fucks sake I will never understand the almost stalker like obsession people have with her. she's a decent actress but she's never been in anything legitimately great. she's "down to earth" congratulations, being "not crazy" is not an accomplishment. I don't really dislike her personally as much as I nothing her, she's disposable and the hype she gets for doing... nothing... is so confusing to me. spouting on the one hand that Hollywood needs to stop fat shaming women then on the other complaining about playing opposite a chubby Christian bale is almost funny when you consider the monumental talent he has vs her.

honestly, on this list, gina carano is the only one that doesn't sound insane. wonder woman is such a simple cut-and-dry character that you could almost get some no name body builder and teach her a few lines over the weekend. saldana is an amazing action actress and even if she aint the right color for the role she's mostly just too skinny, beautiful, but skinny. the girl from Riddick might work, Katie sachoff I think her name is though I probably garbled the spelling, she's got some size to her body which ww actually needs, not fat, just size. Chyna is still acting albeit in porn but still, she at least looked like wonder woman at one point. personally i'd like them to handle WW like they did thor, get a relatively little known actress and just double down on the ye old dialoge to make her seem as alien as possible. I mean as long as we're trying to make superman scary ww should act like Lobo or Leonidas from 300.

Gina Carano is the absolute best choice, and for a reason. She has the looks and the athleticism. As for acting ability, I am sure she would acquit herself just fine.

Of the others, I can really only see Eva Green or Jennifer Lawrence, but either of them would have to gain some massive muscle weight (and I am unsure if they would be willing to do that, as it would be a departure from their other types of roles).

Gwendolyne Christie WOULD make a more realistic looking Amazon, but I am unsure if they would cast someone who dwarfed the rest of the cast so much. Furthermore, the photoshops I've seen of her as a brunette looked...unsettling...

Still, while we are at it, I would also like to see Emily Blunt take a shot at it, coming straight off her buffing up for this new Tom Cruise movie (that movie, I am not so sure about). Also, if she was able to get in even better shape for it, I could also see Emily Deschanel.

Personally, however, my second pick, after Gina Carano, would likely be Jessica Biel, but that's also because I would like to see her in everything (and she did buff up and prove her athleticism rather nicely for Blade Trinity). I am unsure whether she would be able to act with WW's particular anachronisms (Emily Blunt would fare the best here, IMO), but it would be worth a try!

Yeah, if this were the 90's, it'd probably be crazy to cast anyone but Lucy Lawless. Heck, you could be on to something casting her as Wonder Woman even now. Not sure how many people seeing the movie would remember her as Xena, though.

OT:
Honestly, I think an actress playing Wonder Woman needs the build, and figure to stack up to the comicbook version. The actors for male parts no doubt had those demands placed upon them.... except for Venom in the old Spiderman trilogy which still irks me t this day as a long time fan of Venom, but I digress.
Waif-fu kinda bugs me. Seeing endless lines of scrawny women in combat, and all. Not saying it can't happen, but it shouldn't be all the time.

As for the list, I hate a lot of the picks. Heck, almost all of them. Heck, I'd pick Michelle Rodriguez over most of them as a better fit, and she's not really the best fit. Heck, I'd almost rather see Claudia Black who voiced Cheetah in a JL movie already, but that's prolly nonsensical talk.

Wonder Woman isn't exactly known for a dazzling sense of humor over brawn, and being serious, IIRC.

Angelina Jolie, maybe?

Eh, end rant.

When are web sites going to stop splitting up articles over many pages that could easily have been put on one page? It's just freaking annoying to have to go through what is an obvious ploy for page clicks. I don't bother any more. The articles just are not worth the effort. Who's playing Wonder Woman? Seriously, who cares? 43% of America is below the poverty line and it's only getting worse. Comic book related news is, like, a couple of hundred items back in the list of priorities.

Karen Gillian, are you serious? She is the last person who should be considered for the role. She can't act. She's the English version of Kristen Stewart, or Megan Fox.

Oh yeah there are non white Amazons, but Wonder Woman isn't one of them. I have no idea what her acting capabilites are like having never even heard of her before now, I'll agree she isn't attractive enough for the role either. But I still think you should stay true to the source material, and that includes not changing the race. *cough* Bane *cough*.

There could really be some more black Super Heroines to be sure, because the only one I can think of in the DC universe is that one that Green Arrow went out with on the Justice League cartoon who's name I've forgotton.

There's nothing to say that after being cast a thinner person playing wonder woman won't be put through an insane training regime to get the right physique in pre-production.

Henry Cavill got insanely ripped for Man of Steel, maybe when we see Gal Gadot as WW she may have being doing some serious gym time.

Oh and Jennifer Lawrence was spectacular in Winters Bone. (doesn't make her a good Wonder Woman pick, just a great actress)

Number one makes sense. Number 7 kind of makes sense. But the rest? I don't get how they are better choices. "These people are good at the acting thing. They should play Wonder Woman." Doesn't really make sense, no reasons are given for these people being a better choice than Gal Gadot.

I mean... Karen Gillan? Why? The reason given, is because she's popular and has experience in Sci Fi... That's terrible reasoning. This is not a good article...
