What is with all these "in studio" trailers at E3 this year? I don't want to see developers walking around and sitting at computers - I want gameplay and cinematics!

I saw a lot of things. But not space combat. And no, speeders don't count as space combat.

If battlefront 2 had it in 2005 then if it's not in this game there is no excuse. None.

They are doing the exact same goddamn thing Abrams is doing with the new films. No actual footage, just a lot of promises and a heavy banking on nostalgia. Who gives a shit if you went to the original filming locations? The best maps in Battlefront were the brand new ones like the Bespin Refinery or Rhen Var.

Unfortunately, the last few years of EA releases has left me completely cold for this. After Dungeon Keeper, Dead Space 3, Battlefield 4, Command & Conquer (everything since Generals), Fuse, the Medal of Honor reboot (and de-boot), Mass Effect 3, Sim City, Need for Speed, Syndicate and probably some other horrible stuff I've arrived at the conclusion that to get excited about a new EA game you either have to be new to gaming and therefore very young, hopelessly naive or unforgivably stupid.

Because the next gen has come and it looks like someone ran it over with a ute, they're all terrified of releasing their magical trailers only to have the press turn round and ask so when will your games look as good as Crysis?.

Or to be releasing that vaunted debut and then realise that the finished game's going to look nothing like it.

I'm still hoping against hope this isn't just a typical EA shooter with a Star Wars skin.

Also there is a typo in the title. There shouldn't be an apostrophe in 'it's'. 'It's' is a contraction of 'it is', it's not possessive.

I am not going to lie. I never really cared for the first two Star Wars Battlefront games. They were fun for a bit, but constantly killing A.I. just got boring after a while. And the single player, if you could call it that, was extremely lacking. 2 did a better job with than the first one, but it was still nothing to write home about.

I'll keep an eye on this because I am a huge Star Wars fan, I'm not jumping out of my seat like I would be if they made a new, true, X-Wing style game. Of course, if they manage to nail space combat in this, then I'll be much more excited.

Wait.. what? That's all the original Star Wars: Battlefront ever was; a knockoff of Battlefield with a star wars skin. If the finished game is what you describe, it'll be a decent game.

Let's hope Battlefield 4 only failed because DICE were focusing their efforts on this.

I was thinking the same thing. This E3 is so boring.

Ah... ah.... Beautiful looking. Will it pass muster? We shall see. But glad they're giving it the full attention it deserves. Also I'm going to second the notion that, while I'm definitely interested, I'm not jumping out of my seat as I would were they making a more X-Wing/Tie Fighter-based game.

Well... that didn't show that much gameplay.

Also I'm assuming I can't play it because of origin. Tch, that's too bad.

Heh. I know a clan member who was an absolute baws at Battlefront 2. He dedicated so much time to it back in the day. Gamespy ultimately permabanned him from the servers though for "cheating." I know him enough though to know he wouldn't cheat. He's a good guy.

I know for Battlefront 2 it had some crucial differences that made it a very different experience. 3rd Person view creates a pretty big difference for starters, and then there is the match scoring system of depleting reinforcements with flag capture points being secondary instead of just using flag capture points to decide the winner like Battlefield does.

A lot less leveling and unlockables also contributed to a different experience, although all shooters are going that way now.

They also gave BF4 the attentions it deserved. Look how well that turned out. I'll pass on this one, and hope that the lessons learned from it are applied to a stellar Republic Commando.

This is EA though. So ask yourself, "how are they gonna go about monetizing it?"
