Hearthstone's Curse of Naxxramas Coming Next Week

Hearthstone's first single player adventure will be launching on July 22nd.

Hearthstone fans looking forward to diving into the game's inaugural single player adventure won't have to wait much longer. The Curse of Naxxramas expansion, originally revealed back <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/133656-Hearthstone-Reveals-Single-Player-Adventure-Mode>in April, will be launching for Windows, Mac and iPad next week on July 22nd.

The release date reveal came via way of an announcement on the Hearthstone website where Blizzard re-affirmed its plans to release the game's five wings one at a time on a weekly basis following the expansion's initial launch. As <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/135998-Hearthstones-Curse-of-Naxxramas-Pricing-Revealed>previously announced, it will be begin with the Arachnid Quarter.

"The Arachnid Quarter will be free to play during the Curse of Naxxramas launch event, which will last roughly a month," said the announcement. "Those brave enough to step foot into the Arachnid Quarter during the launch event will unlock it permanently for free."

Each additional wing after that will cost $6.99 USD or 700 in-game gold. A bundle pack will also be available allowing Hearthstone fans to buy all five wings at once for a single $24.99 fee. While that price tag might not sit too well with fans who enjoy the game's free-to-play nature, we somehow suspect that the promise of 30 new cards may be enough to iron over an hard feelings.

700 in-game gold?
They are actually letting people buy the DLC with in-game gold? That's actually pretty decent of them, it might be entirely possible to get the entire DLC for free.

I'm only around 950 gold right now but I can be patient with this sort of stuff so I don't mind saving up. If I was better at this game then I'd be tempted to try more arenas since doing well spews lots of gold at you but alas......I suck.

The game doesn't cost anything.

It would be very odd for them to suddenly add new cards that required real money.

It wouldn't be odd. In fact, it would be the norm for F2P card games, with content either being available only for real money, or requiring an insane amount of grinding. Hearthstone is pretty much the most reasonable game when it comes to this, as 700 gold isn't a huge amount.

Games with cards readily accessible like Hearthstone have paywalls? No.

It wouldn't be odd for any F2P cardgame, it would be odd for Hearthstone to have it.
