Batman v Superman's Batmobile Shown Off in New Pics

New images have revealed Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's Batmobile in all its dark, gritty glory.

Back in May, director Zack Snyder gave the world <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/134465-The-Affleck-Batman-And-Batmobile-Are-Positively-Miller-Esque>its first glimpse of <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/127114-Ben-Affleck-is-The-New-Batman>Ben Affleck as the new Batman in his follow up to Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/batman>Batman wasn't the only reveal in that Tweeted image, however. Set behind Affleck's somber looking Dark Knight was the new Batmobile. Sadly, much of the vehicle was cropped out the image, leaving to wonder what the new take on the vehicle looked like in its full glory.

Those fans may be happy to hear that new images have now surfaced showing off the vehicle in full. The images, posted by several different users on Instagram, showcase the new Batmobile with its cockpit open and parked in a nondescript alleyway. The car itself definitely takes some cues from the Tumbler of the Christopher Nolan films; most notably with its tires and rugged design aesthetic. That said, we'd go so far as to say that it also perhaps emulates some of the more style driven Bat-cars of the character's previous filmography. Its layout just screams <a href=http://coolmaterial.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/batman-forever-batmobile.jpg>Batman Forever (minus the bat wing fins, of course).

All in all, we're actually going to go ahead and say it's pretty cool looking. It looks like something we could see the Batman of the comics driving, while still be grounded enough to fit into Warner Bros more grounded take on the DC Universe. Granted, a good Batmobile isn't going to save this film if it winds up being the dry, convoluted mess it's arguably turning into, but hey, we can still give credit where it's due.

It looks a bit clunky. And like it's made out of scrap metal. But maybe that's just the angle and the quality of the image.

You know, I really like it. It's got the same kind of rugged, functional aesthetic that the Tumbler had but it looks much more built for speed. That said, it's a little predictable. They were obviously going to make it all rugged and non-stylish, but they couldn't go and have the Tumbler again or outdo it in tank-ness. On the other hand, they couldn't make it all cool and swoopy like the Burton-era car because that would be too fun.

That looks pretty awful. It's so grey and packed full of angles. It does look rugged though, and better than the tumbler. I dunno what they were thinking with that monstrosity.

*sigh* I just can't get behind the "Mad Max" style batmobiles. Mainly since batman is rich enough to buy a vehicle that looks good. Hell, he's rich enough to at least buy paint and primer.

I think Batman might need to take it to the Bat car wash.
Pretty much this, damn it's dirty! D:

OT: Not bad from what I can see, looks like the tumbler thing but lost some weight. It does look a bit more of a "off road" machine as to something that can move down crowed Gotham streets.

My only question:

I might be one of the few who liked the Tumbler, mostly because it didn't have the appearance of trying to look cool and instead looked like it was designed to be durable and practical. This doesn't look bad either though, a bit of a compromise between the two I'd say.

Its very blah, feel very neutral about it. Dont love it or hate it, looks like a cross between the sleek Batmobile from Tim Burtons Batman and the Tumbler. I would have preferred if they stayed away from the military style of the last trilogy and do something more sleek being that this is a newer/older Batman. No matter, hopefully they will do some interesting stuff with it in the movie.

Normally the 'rule of cool' would supersede the impracticality of something like the cockpit's split hatch but in my eyes it looks too silly for the rule to apply.

Also the front end looks like a severely overweight bat clutching a pair of enormous Oreos and I can't un-see it.

What's left after that looks okay though...

it just didn't aesthetically strike me as "a Batmobile"
Well that was kind of my whole issue with all the Nolan Batman films. The Batmobile doesn't look like a Batmobile, Gotham City didn't look like Gotham City, Bane certainly didn't look like Bane, etc etc.

None of them were bad films, I'm willing to say that most of them were great. But at the end of the day, none of it felt like Batman. At least not Batman as we'd come to know him.

But that's kind of the strength of the character at the same time. You can move his basic story and premise into other time frames or alternate worlds and his archetypal "Dark Knight of Vengeance" angle still works. Be it a reimagined version of Chicago or a Steampunk alternate universe.

Actually i think its black it just that you cant tell because the film is so gritty that everything is dirty as a result. It looks as though all of the dust kicked up during Sup vs Zodd is still settling and making everything dirty and grimy in the city.
