Report: Rambo Will Return For Last Blood

Rumor claims Sylvester Stallone will direct and star in a final Rambo adventure

It's been a long road for once again [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/rambo] surfaced that the road will go on for one more adventure.

ComingSoon taking on the Mexican Cartels [http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=122801] and a Rambo-fied adaptation of James Byron Huggins' novel Hunter - which would've found Rambo being brought in to take down a renegade killer who has been transformed into a monstrous creature by genetic experiments.

Debuting as a highly-skilled but deeply-troubled veteran who waged a one-man-war on an abusive Sheriff's Department in the dark 1982 thriller First Blood, 1985's Rambo: First Blood Part II saw the character redeemed into a straightforward action-hero sent to rescue remaining POWS from Vietnam. In Rambo III (1988) he helped fight the Soviet Army in Afghanistan, only to re-emerge 20 years later (but no less deadly) to help rescue Burmese missionary workers in 2008's Rambo. Most recently, it was revived as a video-game. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/video-games/editorials/reviews/11038-Rambo-The-Video-Game-Review-First-Crud]

Okay, this is very tangential and nitpicky, but what the hell kind of weapon is that supposed to be in the picture there?

Because it looks like someone rammed a RPG-7 down the barrel of a M60.

Love that poster. Its so 80s.

I wonder if we will see Rambo fighting with the heroic Taliban like he did in Rambo 3?

Damn, Stallone is having a really hard time getting old, isn't he? I want to see this, though. Please be good. In the best cheesy way possible. With lots of gore!

That Hunter idea sounds alot like The Hunted except for the lack of the guy being a mutant. I like the idea of Rambo versus a militia group though it would fit his all america action guy thing to fight those types. There could even be a thing where the leader of the group could be an old Vietnam buddy of Rambo's.

I never caught the 4th film, is it worth watching? And worth justifying a 5th entry?

I think its only fair to expect a Hot Shots: The Third or something if this comes to light.

Oh, that is the most awesome title ever. I always wondered if they'd be able to find a way to continue Rambo's brilliant naming scheme!

First Blood
Rambo: First Blood Part II
Rambo III
Rambo
Last Blood

Keep 'em coming! Maybe the next one could be called Rambo IV or Last Blood: Rambo Part II

Its an M-29 Rifle Grenade, a 1950s grenade based on the WW1 and WW2 principle of jamming a warhead down/over a gun barrel and using a blank charge to fling it further than a man can could throw. Completely superseded by under barrel launchers after the 60s, there where all kinds from fragmentation to smoke and from anti armour to incendiary.

If its not the particular version its one very much like it, possibly a M-31 which was the last US rifle grenade or one of the Soviet analogues.

Ah, thank you.

I've heard of rifle grenades, but I've never seen one.

I think it'd be perfect if the last one went back to it's roots and went more of the style of First Blood but maybe this time Rambo is on the other side as another war veteran goes revengeful over crimes committed on soldiers and Rambo is asked to stop him. Something like Metal Gear Solid style even, but less crazy. Much less crazy.

this still isn't as funny as another Rocky film where he has to fight the grandson of Apollo Creed. I think Hollywood is trying to get a message through to Sly.

My eyes played a trick on me when I first saw that poster - I thought his gun had an under-slung helicopter.

Now it seems sorely lacking..

A new Rambo huh? Now taking bets on what this will be!

My bet is that Rambo infiltrates a senior community in Florida that is secretly a front to take over the state and turn it into a communist dictatorship. And the most tense scene in the movie? John having to decide which pudding he wants to eat!

How about "Rambo: so much blood" or "Rambo: The Killening" "Rambo: Everyone will Die"

Can't wait, loved the last Rambo movie, expesualy the part when he got onto the 50cal mg, and turned the guy in the front seat of the car into ground hamburger.

My favourite part of that flick was, to prove that the Burmese rebels were bad, one of them grabs a kid while invading a village, shoots the kid, and then tosses it into a fire. And then shoots the fire.

That movie was a sequence of 'daaaaamn!' moments. And I had a blast watching it!

I'd like to think that this movie would return to it's roots (Rocky), in a commentary on the treatment of veterans sort of way, but I'm not holding my breath.

As it goes sorely unaddressed so far: I thought the film was extremely good. It's about a man who never recovered from his time in Vietnam and how he sees that there is still a home for him in America and by extension his redemption as a human killing machine. It has no shortage of gore though, just as a heads up. It kind of starts with you getting the impression that he sees little value in his own existence. He doesn't care about himself and by extension he does not care about anyone else. You also see this really imaginative clash of valued between the world he lives in and the world these mission people come from. That part in and of itself is extremely well done. There is just enough cathartic badassery in it to make it feel good as well.

OT: I am excited to see where this goes. The truth is, Stalone is a talented writer who has a good understanding of struggle on a very primal level. He isn't the best writer/film maker around, don't get me wrong. But accolade should be given where it's deserved.

The only Rambo movie I've liked was First Blood. I didn't care for the sequels. And in the last sequel the only thing I remember from it was Rambo mumbling "Die For Nothing Or Live For Something". Which when said more than once starts to sound even more pointless. I doubt I'll be seeing Last Blood as I've grown tired of Sylvester Stallone.
