First Look at Legend of Korra Book 4

Nickelodeon has posted the first clip of Legend of Korra Book 4 as Korra returns home for her recovery.

The first clip of Legend of Korra [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/legend+of+korra] book 4 is online, setting up expectations for the coming season. After the trauma of the end of book 3, Korra must take time to heal.

The one-minute clip [http://www.nick.com/videos/clip/korra-215-clip.html] shows Korra still in her wheelchair, weakened by her near death experience. She's returning home to the Southern Water Tribe for her recovery. Bolin says he'll be her pen pal while she's gone for a couple of weeks, and Asami offers to accompany Korra. However, Korra says the time alone will be good for her. Tenzin assures Korra not to worry; the airbenders "have everything under control," but Korra doesn't look happy.

At home, Korra wakes from a nightmare about nearly dying. More than the physical trauma, Korra's trying to cope with the emotional trauma.

Book 4 is titled "Balance." As the last season of Korra, book 4 will possibly continue the ideal of world peace, but Korra may also need to find balance within herself.

Co-creator Bryan Konietzko posted the first image for book 4 on Tumblr. [http://bryankonietzko.tumblr.com/post/97302394302/korranation-korra-is-heading-to-new-york-comic] Korra's hair is shorter, similar to her original concept design, and her hardened expression reflects what's happened and possibly what's to come.

Book 3 ended just a few weeks ago, but book 4 is already on the way [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/137369-Legend-of-Korra-Book-4-October-3-Premiere-Date]; its first episode premieres on October 3 on Nick.com and the Nick app.

I'm glad Nick didn't decide to can it.

Wish Zim could've gotton this far.

Shame I can't seem to watch the 1 min clip considering I'M NOT FROM THE US OF A...

I sometimes wonder when this site will become more global in terms of accessible info/media without getting one side of the world shafted.

I still worry for studio MIR though, I've seen how they work and those sometime sleepless nights while they often sleep in their work areas, they do great work but I feel they get pushed to some extremes at times.

I wonder how they are going to end Korra story wise, I mean with Aang, the whole plot was to stop Fire Lord Ozai, what is it for Korra? Ok sure Aang still did stuff after the main objective (check out the books) but still.

So... they're doubling down on broody Korra...
That's disappointing. My complaint about Korra wasn't that she wasn't broody enough.

They already ordered both seasons. It is as canned as they can make it by relegating it to online streaming.

How popular is the series exactly?
Book One had about 3-4 million viewers across the season, Book 2 had about 1.5-2.5 million viewers across the season, and Book 3 was pretty borked from the start because Nick didn't advertise it properly and released it far earlier than anticipated; as a result it only attracted around only 1 million viewers across the season before they decided to take it off air and make it digital only half way through the series. This is the series' 4th and final season, and is going to continue being digital only.

It's a real shame as it's gotten consistently better as it's run.
Season 1 fell quite flat and seemed rushed and boy, did I want Korra to get a blow to the head (or two), but halfway through season 2 IMO it was as good as anything Aang threw our way and season 3 was awesome pretty much start to finish.
At least we're getting a season 4; given what could have happened, could we ask for much more?

So much excitement for me. Glad to see Bolin trying to keep the mood light by being his goofy self. Glad to see that Korra isn't completely broken and can still talk with her friends without breaking down. Tenzin probably said one of the worst possible things at that moment, showing that he still doesn't 'get it' at times. I can't wait for the new season to start. I don't care what everyone else says. I love Korra, both as a character and as a show, and I'm excited for more.

I wonder if we'll get to see the twins again, to at least know they're okay. I'm sure they are, but the last we saw of them, they were trapped in blocks of ice looking pretty beat.

That picture of Korra has her standing, but the background looks like the spirit world, so I'm guessing she has to deal with some stuff there in order to find balance.

With how the third season turned out, I am excited for the fourth season although i'm a bit melancholy about it ending after stuff just got good.

The ending is paramount, so I hope for a good ending whether it be sad or happy.

With the way Nick has handled Korra, I thought they were Fox handling a sci-fi show!

My friends didn't even KNOW there was a SE3 until I told them about it.

THEN they couldn't see any of the previous episodes because Nick wouldn't put them online, or run reruns at decent hours.

I TRULY hope Korra SE4 does well.

The series has been getting BETTER and BETTER and BETTER as time moves forward.

Despite everyone saying we're living in a connected world we still have to suffer pitiful region locking. seriously why is this a thing anymore, isn't it counter-productive to block people from seeing trailers just because of where they live?

Dunno exactly. Seems like it's pretty popular.
They couldn't can it, even if they wanted to. The voicework for season 4 was done before season 2 even aired, and the animation was almost done by the premiere of season 3. They would have thrown their money away to just scrap it without airing it in some capacity.

As to how popular it is: It's very popular... but not for the key demos nickelodeon cares about. Part of the reason they took it off the air and changed to an online distribution is because that way the group of people most likely to watch it (teen and college age men and women) would count for the most

This soon after Book 3? I'm stoked but worried it will by a rush job with executive meddling so far up the wazoo they might as well just make all the credits say "Nick Board of Directors."

So if Nick is this excited to finish the series, does that mean they'll sell the IP to a network that might actually treat it with dignity? Or will they sit on it and just keep on rerunning random TLA episodes during weak time slots?

Book 4 was completed by the time book 3 was airing so I don't think the season itself will be rushed. Nick is releasing it this early because it's already done and since they don't want it airing on tv anymore they might as well release it now.

Also I can't see Nick ever selling the rights to any property they own. Viacom's pretty evil that way, it's what they do. They buy a cartoon, handle the marketing for it horribly, realize the target demographic isn't watching the show, put the show in a dead time slot, then cancel it based on ratings. Just look at Invader Zim and tons of other cartoons that didn't last long on Nick.

Well, I'm just happy they didn't immediately back out of having her in a wheelchair. That would be like admitting it was just for "shock" value.
Also, the possibility of the Avatar kicking ass and taking names in a wheelchair still intrigues me.

Am I a awful person for wanting season four to be "Jackobs Ladder" for Korra?

OT: Well I'm excited to see how Korra will recover from everything and what exactly "Balance" will mean for the whole Avatar world and her as well.

Saw the book's title coming, but should have seen Book 4, itself, coming as soon as it is right now... Still, I would like to thank the Nicktoons channel for trying to show every episode from Book 3 starting next week, which was something I've been waiting for since Book 3's finale...

Then again, I have yet to get used to watching the episodes online... mainly due to Nick's video player on their website... But, I digress... Bring on more Korra!

I wouldn't be shocked if Korra actually died at the end of the season, after the end of the last season it feels like a "Knock her down, bring her back up and kill her kind of deal" which would be sad since she is my favorite Avatar. Of course before the ending I also Predict massive amounts of Korrasami.
