Rogue is in X-Men: Days of Future Past Special Edition

X-Men: Days of Future Past will have a special "Rogue Cut" edition available next year, featuring never-before-seen footage of Rogue's subplot in the movie.

X-Men: Days of Future Past [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/x-men%20days%20of%20future%20past] featured many mutants we've all come to know from the previous films in the franchise, but one person that didn't make an appearance was Rogue, a character played by actress Anna Paquin. That's going to change next year with the "Rogue Cut," an extended version being released of the X-Men: Days of Future Past film.

Simon Kinberg, the movie's writer and producer, confirmed that this special edition will be released in 2015. The extended version will have ten minutes worth of extra footage, to which Kinberg states, "It's a big chunk, a substantial part of the movie. We want to give (fans) the fullest picture of the film - behind the camera, and in front of it." Rogue won't be the only X-Men character not seen in the original cut making an appearance.

It's been confirmed Rogue was meant to play a bigger role in the film, until everyone involved found that her subplot played more into fanservice than adding to the narrative. In Kinberg's words, "It felt like it didn't come from the spine of the film, it was an appendage [http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Rogue-Deleted-Subplot-From-X-Men-Days-Future-Past-Finally-Revealed-43227.html] where I just wanted to see the old guys get in the X-Jet for one last ride." Next year we'll have a chance to see what this subplot actually looks like. Kinberg confides that this is toughest script he's had to work on, "I pray to God I never work on another time travel movie."

Rogue won't be the only X-Men character not seen in the original cut making an appearance.
I am pretty sure she does actually appear in a brief shot near the end of the movie. She's seen talking to Iceman and smiles at Wolverine while he's still trying to figure out what's going on (after he wakes up in the new future).

Hm...I just assumed she was dead like everyone else we don't see. I guess not?

We're seriously doing a special Extended Edition of the X-men movies now? The Lord of the Rings, and The Hobbit, I get because they're huge, but this? Come on. It's only ten minutes? Can't they just add that in to the release that is coming out soon? I really liked this movie, but I don't like it enough to buy it twice.

Next year? Why not next month, ya know, with the original blu ray release?

So... Are they going to have this interconnected with the rest of the movie, or will it be the "watch the 10 minute subplot" thing that most movies do? Cuz if it's the second, I don't see why they can't just release the movies with "deleted scenes" and be done with it.

She does appear though, near the end but still.

It's not without precedent for superhero films to do this.

Heck, it's not even new for the X-men series.

I'm just a tad annoyed we'll have to wait until next year to see it.

"Rogue? There is no Rogue, only Sookie!"
Seriously, I cannot look at her anymore and NOT see her as Sookie!!!

I can confirm your pretty sure. Having watched the movie on a plane last week; she's in it for like 5 seconds.

Still, would love to have seen more of her. I've always felt that Anna Paquin made an excellent Rogue.

X-Jet? It's the blackbird.
Technically the plane seen in the future sequences of DOFP is an X-Jet with the weird and seemingly useless X wings jutting out everywhere and the spindly cockpit. The Blackbirds are more or less members of the Sikorsky sR-71 family and at least share some lines styling and design elements with the real planes. Typically the two in the wing engine nacelles and broad diamond or delta shaped wing with extended nose. Both x-men plane types show up in the comics.

I remember it called to my attention that she had a prominent part in the credits while she was barely in the movie.

I passed on DOFP, but heard enough about it to scratch my head on keyplot points. SPOILER alert:

The sentinels gain the ability to "copy" (I think) mutant abilities from Mystique. Which makes far less sense than them gaining that ability from Rogue, when we consider what Rogue and Mystique's mutations actually are. I get that they had Jennifer Lawrence is a bigger star, but hearing that about Mystique's blood + sentinels made me facepalm thinking "Why the hell not Rogue? That would have made so much more sense."
