Details Released for Shadow of Mordor's Lord of the Hunt DLC

Tame new beasts and face new threats in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor: Lord of the Hunt.

Details on Shadow of Mordor's first DLC pack, Lord of the Hunt, have been unveiled. In an interview with Kotaku [http://kotaku.com/shadow-of-mordors-new-dlc-will-put-monsters-on-top-of-o-1652705860], Monolith stated that the new downloadable content will focus on expanding the unforgiving wildlife by adding monsters, runes, and additional missions with Torvin, the dwarf hunter that taught players to ride Graugs in the original campaign.

New creatures being siphoned into the game will be the "Wretched Graug," a variant on the original Graug that has the ability to spit poison, and the Caragath which is a sprier, stealthier version of the Caragor. Talion will also be given a new ability to control Ghuls, dominating any that he meets and gaining the power to summon a Ghul horde on command.

The showcase feature, however, is the new ability for Warchiefs to mount their own beasts. The new Beastmaster Warchiefs will be available in new showdown missions and custom missions to draw out the Warchiefs for battle. In order to defeat them players will have to dismount the Warchiefs before administering the coup de grâce.

Although Monolith didn't give a specific date, they said Lord of the Hunt would be available before the end of the year for $9.99 or as part of the season pass, which is still available for $24.99 and includes access to all current and future DLC content.

I really enjoyed the game but I don't see why we had to have Caragor and Graug. I know they wanted to do there own thing in the middle earth universe but I want a pet warg and to ride a cave troll damn it!

The price seems a bit steap but I don't know American money. What is $10 in proper money (£)?

So basically DLC focusing on what I considered to be the worst part of the vanilla game. Awesome.

I will just wait for the game of the year edition and get everything at once while the game is on sale. I have big backlog of games to play so there is no rush for me to buy the game.

I think that is the pound currency symbol. Google says $10 = 6.25 pounds. then again I hear sometimes times games are sold like $10=10 pounds or maybe I am confusing it with how I hear the price of games are in Australia.

Sounds alright if a bit overpriced for what it offers. The only thing that sounded interesting to me there was the ability to summon a Ghul Horde due to that sounding fun and that warchiefs can now ride beasts as well because that could make it a bit harder.

I really hope that one of the DLCs will add a hard mode into the game because I've seen no game in need of a higher difficulty more than Shadow of Mordor.

New console games in England are normaly about £40. You can normaly knock off a few £ with Amazon. PC games are about £30. But DLC prices go up and down depending on the publisher. Some will use exchange rates and charge the same while others won't. I am sure I remember some ME3 DLC was $10 in the US and BiowEAr simply charged us £10. I am not 100% on Australia but I know they regularly get screwed over when it comes to price and release dates.

And thanks for the reply, I made my post on my phone and the battery was running out so I had no time to check a converter for myself. £6 sounds fair enough.

I found the Torvin to be irritating and his missions to be some of the weakest in the game. Why add more of either?

The only real reason to pay attention to the wildlife in SoM was to either A) Get around quickly, or B) Exploit a weakness. The mounted combat was pretty weak when compared to the on-foot fighting anyway, so why add more creatures, especially if they are only simple variations of the existing 2?

Admittedly, I did find it curious that there were Caragors scattered around the map, and Caragors in Orc cages, yet there were no Orcs that actually rode around on them, so at least this is a plus. However, I don't see why this is included in a DLC and not in the base game.

So a couple of creature reskins with combat variants and power-ups. Not really worth the cost. Maybe they should consider an expansion pack instead of dlc

I really hope they can release some way to increase the difficulty in the game. Last time I died it required a swarm of orcs and 1 warchief with his cohort of 4 captains, and 1 captain who was in the area, I know Talion is supposed to be a middle earth super hero but it is just ridiculous.

Another thing I'd like that probably isn't feasible as DLC is a way for more than 2 Uruks to be attacking at the same time. You may be swarmed but you are still only actively fighting 2 Uruks, 3 if you count the spear throwers.
