Nintendo Finally Reveals Duck Hunt Dog for Smash Bros. 4 With Official Trailer

Along with Duck Hunt Dog, the last secret fighter - Jigglypuff - was also revealed.

Not going to bother with a spoiler tag around this one, considering the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. has been out for over a month and seriously, does anyone not know that Duck Hunt Dog is in the game at this stage? Nintendo apparently still does, treating the "reveal" of Duck Hunt Dog for Super Smash Bros. as a big secret. Nonetheless, they have released a rather entertaining trailer for the character, which you can check out to the right.

As well as the video, a batch of screenshots of the Dog and his Duck in action has also been uploaded. As with the other secret characters [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/137826-Super-Smash-Bros-4s-Secret-Characters-Revealed], while we've seen them on 3DS before, this is the first time getting a glimpse at how he'll look on the Wii U version. Check them out below:

As an added bonus, Nintendo has graciously also revealed the 11th and final secret character: Jigglypuff. Jigglypuff has been in the game right from the start - despite not really being a "main" character of the Pokemon franchise. Ranging from "joke character" to unstoppable killing machine, she is certainly not without her fans.

As with Duck Hunt Dog, Nintendo have uploaded some screenshots of her in action on the 3DS and Wii U:

Lastly, Nintendo also announced another piece of good news for Duck Hunt fans: the original Duck Hunt title will be making its way to the Wii U's virtual console next year, with full Wii Remote support!

Did 8 bit mario give him the finger? I think he did.

Also nintendos reveal logic is baffling, they set a plan up for reveals and sticks to it even though their game came out.

It's truly perplexing.

It was more a hand gesture that those martial arts movies like to make. The one that sort of says "Come on *****, I'll take you on".

OT: FUCKIN' DUCKIE DUO! I've had so much fun playing him, yet I cannot imagine how annoying it must be fighting against him.

You know, I have to applaud Nintendo for going so all-out with these reveal trailers. We've known the whole roster for some time now, yet they take the time to release these high-quality videos, because they KNOW that we want to see them.

Bowser Jr's trailer had a purpose, to help show off the new 8-player Smash. But this? Totally superfluous. But it was fun, and I'm glad they made it.

The reveal trailer just takes me back to my time with Duck Hunt and Hogan's Alley, firing away at the targets (usually with the NES Zapper touching the screen). But something about it puzzles me. 2/3's into the trailer, it pulls back to show someone playing SSB's and the Duck Hunt dog by using the Zapper. Does this mean there is another controller option or is this Nintendo trolling us much like the dog would when we missed a duck?

Hope there is some clarity to this question of mine.

It was just to look cool and to clarify what his Smash attacks and side special/standard special actually are. It's not entirely clear at first glance, but said attacks are the dog getting a handy assist from some off-screen guy with a zapper. The trailer was just putting a spotlight on it is all.

Same. The music sounded amazing (can't wait to hear the full version of that first track) and the visuals did a perfect job of showing off the American cartoon inspired goofiness of the dog. It almost made me kinda... sorta... like him.

Almost. He's still incredibly annoying to fight against. But I guess if he weren't annoying, he wouldn't be the Duck Hunt dog, would he?

Much like the joy of the original Lego Star Wars game was the opportunity to repeatedly decapitate Jar-Jar Binks with a lightsaber, I suspect that snickering dog is going to be the recipient of a lot of three-on-one beatdowns.

I'm kind of disappointed. The Wild Gunman is in the trailer and there wasn't a single Back to the Future 2 reference.

Their latest reveal caused the escapist and other websites to run an article about the reveal. It's free advertising. They get a new article every time. Pretty genius if you think about it.

I loved the dog's reaction around 1:26 on the video ... he's sheltering his eyes from seeing such a lewd scene XD

OT: I'm pretty sure Nintendo has this year in the bag. With so many successful games released and great trailers + hard earned updates ... I think many are going to remember them as the Kings again like they were in the old days. They're already convincing me to purchase a Wii U for god's sake.

Do it.

Do it.

DO EET

Seriously though tonnes of great games on it.

Biggest issue I have lately is voip in mario kart only works in lobby, not in race. It's much less fun when I can't verbally abuse Tizzy for his luck with weapon pickups.

Yeah I suppose it's good consistent marketing but there has to be a better way of doing it then putting out trailers for characters everyone knows about

Like that 50 facts about smash video, that was great.
