Labyrinth, The Rocketeer and Fight Club Return in Sequel Themed Art Show

The art house iam8bit will be hosting an exhibit envisioning would-be film sequels starting November 13th.

Movie sequels can be a really lousy thing. When you get down to it there are simply just some works of cinema that neither require nor benefit from a second (or fourth) chapter. That being the case, there are some films that arguably could stand to continue past their closing credits and there's no lack for film-goers wishing, hoping and praying their favorite flick might someday be the subject of an unlikely continuation.

Case in point, the pop culture art gallery <a href=https://www.facebook.com/iam8bitproductions>iam8bit will hosting a new exhibit next week focusing in on would-be sequels as envisioned by artists creating faux movie posters. The exhibit will include pieces from more than 40 artists whose work will include imagined sequels for films such as The Rocketeer, Labyrinth, Spaceballs and many more. The exhibits themselves will be opening on November 13th at 7pm PST and will close down ten days later on November 23rd. Prints from the included art pieces will go on sale on November 14th. People interested in viewing the exhibit can RSVP on <a href=https://www.facebook.com/events/942423485772530/?ref=52&source=1>its Facebook page.

The question that obviously emerges from all of this is what move you'd like to see given the would-be sequel treatment. Just speaking personally, I'm still holding out hope for <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/131806-The-Legend-of-Conan-Will-Be-Schwarzennegers-Unforgiven>a sequel to <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/conan%20the%20barbarian>Conan the Barbarian. And yes, I'm aware of Conan the Destroyer and the <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/comicsandcosplay/comics/critical-miss/9071-Conan-the-Barbarian>2011 film. I feel that it's perfectly legitimate to include movies that need good follow-ups. What would your pick be and what do you think of the artwork that's already been unveiled (thanks <a href=http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=124859#/slide/1>ComingSoon!)?

I know how you feel, Stew. I'm still holding out for a sequel to Highlander.

I rather like the Buckaroo Banzai art. The Rocketeer art is pretty decent. I'm not sure how much I like that Labyrinth poster.

It's a bit DeviantArt really, isn't it?

Anyway, it always makes me a bit sad that there never was a sequel to Labyrinth.

There is a sequel, kinda.
Tokyopop released a "manga" (american made graphic novel that Tokyopop calls manga) sequel called "Return to Labyrinth" in 2006 with the final volume released in 2010.

Not gonna lie, I will pay real American dollars to see those sequels to Blade Runner, Spaceballs, Fight Club, and Rocketeer. I would not advise bringing Jane Fonda back as Barbarella, as she is now.

Kristen Stewart in Labyrinth 2? Could they have picked an actor with actual acting ability? Beyond that, I approve completely.

You say that like Jennifer Connelly could act in the first one. She's improved a lot since then but still...

Oh God! If they ever made another Buckaroo, that would be the day. Never seen a movie so passionately in love with its own niche flavored, off beat, pseudo intellectual nature as that film. Seeming so self absorbed yet still so lovable. I haven't seen anything so hipster as that as when my art college dorm roommate (a white dude that used to sport dreadlocks back in the early 2000s back when he was all into ska) once showed me how to make recycled paper in the oven.

Bringing that back would be the most hipster thing ever.

Compared to Stewart? She should have run the Academy Awards and been offered leading roles in everything.
