Bebop and Rocksteady To Join Michael Bay TMNT Sequel

Iconic henchmen to return for sequel to profitable but poorly-received reboot

Despite being a fairly sizable moneymaker at the box-office (it was the only film to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/136733-Friday-Box-Office-Ninja-Turtles-Defeat-Marvels-Guardians] seemed to disappear pretty quickly from the pop-culture consciousness; with oldschool fans roundly despising the film and younger audiences seeming far more enamored of the new Nickelodeon animated version.

But, whether you remembered they existed or not, pretty-much everyone but Shredder survived the first film and are coming back for a sequel under a new director (Omeltte [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/escape-to-the-movies/9513-Earth-to-Echo-This-Generations-ET] have learned that a pair of familiar foes from the 1980s animated series will be joining them: Bebop & Rocksteady.

Originating in the 1980s animated series principally responsible for launching TMNT from an obscure underground comic book to a globally-known kids' entertainment brand, Bebop and Rocksteady are a mutant warthog and rhinoceros loyal to Shredder and/or The Foot Clan. Their appearance was already hinted at in October by one of the film's concept artists. I haven't watched the first one yet, and I'm not sure I ever will. I loved Turtles when I was a kid and think that the Nickelodeon-show is great, but I just can't be bothered to watch the movie when I don't have any faith in it.

As for Bebop and Rocksteady in the sequel? That's actually pretty cool. Still likely I won't watch it.

I thought Shredder survived? But was badly hurt?

Hell even if he is dead, i'm sure they will bring him back somehow, maybe someone else under the armor. Unlike most i actually really enjoyed the Turtles film, maybe because i don't have any huge attachment to the franchise but meh.

That's what they made it look like. His hand does move at the end.

I was not at all impressed with TMNT. It was pretty bad because the movie wasn't about the Turtles. They were supporting characters in a Megan Fox movie. Fix that and perhaps the sequel will be better. I may give it another chance, but we shall see.

I'm sorry friend, but in Bey films the titular characters always play second fiddle to the human characters and explosions.

If you got time to kill you should just watch it. Its certainly not as bad As TMNT 3, but not as good as the original two movies.

It will be interesting to see with what madness inducing concept they come out for them. At least I don't think those two can't look bad by making them gritty and dark.

PS captcha: snow shovel OK! It has been snowing in my city all day, captcha! Are you spying me or what?

That concept art for Bebop and Rocksteady is great. Too bad it will never wind up on screen.

Those character designs are way too good for Michael Bay to want to use them.
