This needs John Wick, because not only is the dog in question a puppy, they also give him extra emotional weight as a final gift from a dying wife to help Wick's grieving process. Never rooted for an action hero that much before.

I did consider that heavily, but it's still in theaters so I couldn't justify the spoilers. Great example though!

You could have literally said "dog movies that make guys cry: all of them". Well at least for me. Really any pet dying. Cats, Birds, Fish. But Dogs probably have the most expressive eyes so it hits harder.
