You left out two of the best side-scrolling beat-em-ups ever!!

'Aliens vs. Predator' and "Knights of the Round".

Also, I think 'Final Fight' should be in there simply for the influence it had. I mean, they're still using those characters in Capcom games today.

Oh man, you just had to use an image of the gimped 4-player version of X-Men, didn't you?

DIDN'T YOU!:?

Well here you go, kiddies:
[HEADING=3]"HA Ha ha huh! X-Men! Welcome to DIE!"[/HEADING]

Nightcrawler and Storm had the best reach. Note how nobody ever plays Dazzler when given a choice.

This must have been a tough list to make, seeing as there are so many great games you could've included; I was on the lookout for The Simpsons or Golden Axe. Still though, pretty great list. I've played most games on the list, but Ivan "Ironman" Stewart's Super Off Road in particular brought back some memories; there was a small campground store near my house that had this cabinet, and my brother, my neighbor, and I would always ride out bikes there to play this game and buy some candy (which I always thought was was kinda neat, since the store sold small candy like individual Swedish Fish, Zotz Fizz candy, packs of Sixlets, etc. for a nickel each).

Also, I wanted to say that you've been doing a great job with the Galleries of the Day. I've generally been really enjoying your lists.

Not a fan of Konami Brawlers since they were overly simple (fine with 4+ players but boring so with 1-2) both SEGA and especially Capcom brawlers were more technical and built closer to their 1Vs1 cousins.

Seconded Bubble Bobble, that game was designed to be 2 player since you needed 2 players to get the good ending.

I was kind of hoping for the Simpsons arcade game. That was a great 4 person beat em up and one of the only good video games to be made based on that show.

Double Dragon was the grand-daddy of the side scrolling beat-em-ups (honourable mention Golden Axe). For a more "modern" (albeit still very old) take on the beat-em-up genre I found Sega's 'Spikeout' to be awesome. The amount of dollars I wasted on that thing with my brother.
