Stan Lee Lets Word Slip About a Big Hero 6 Sequel

Stan Lee may have just inadvertently revealed the existence of a Big Hero 6 sequel.

Marvel's Stan Lee - the man behind many of our favorite comic books - has been getting cameos in the film adaptions of said comics for years. In fact, it's become somewhat of a tradition to slip the aging creative into more and more quite a lengthy post-credits cameo [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgDkgrE_ECU] and now, he may have just let slip that work has already begun on a Big Hero 6 sequel.

"After Ant-Man, we're going to start playing around with Doctor Strange, the Black Panther, the Inhumans, and then we have to come back for Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Big Hero 6, The Avengers, Captain America," Lee told the Toronto Sun [http://www.torontosun.com/2015/04/17/stan-lee-on-marvel-versus-dc-spidey-joining-the-avengers-and-his-high-hopes-for-ant-man] in a recent interview.

This wouldn't be the first time Lee has let a Marvel announcement out of the bag. A few years ago, he spilled the beans on the upcoming Black Panther [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/138263-Black-Panthers-Costume-Revealed-in-Marvel-Studios-Art] movie before it had been officially revealed.

That said, while Lee is credited as an "executive producer" for all of these films, his role is more or less honorary, and he doesn't have too much say in what goes on.

So, this may have been Lee saying something he shouldn't have, or he may have just made an error.

Can it really be considered a slip? I can't think of a Marvel property that hasn't been franchised post-film, and Big Hero 6 did well enough. Besides, who would stop producing a product where we get to watch Moral Orel's dad save the day?

Considering how Marvel's pretty much planned out their film "Universe" up until 2025 or something, after watching this one I simply assumed there was going to be a sequel at least. Especially if they make that one character in the post-credits scene a part of it.

Captcha: Watch out. With what? There's like... nothing going on.

Is anyone honestly surprised? Anything that makes money these days is prone to getting sequelised even if the original story was well wrapped. At least with BH6 a sequel makes plenty of sense.

Well that makes sense. Big Hero 6 seemed like a movie that would get a sequel or perhaps even a TV show. Or a new set of comics.

I'd be down for it. Predictable as the twist was, I really enjoyed this movie, and while I don't really watch super hero movies, I've heard of Stan Lee and he seems to know what he's doing. (He was involved with the first movie, right? He even had a cameo in the stinger, I believe...)

Good. Big Hero 6 was way better than it's performance at the box office deserved. Hopefully they can find a good plot to continue the storyline and see success.

I'd say no, considering a sequel was about as inevitable as the sunrise. These days, studios don't make films, they make franchises. BH6 made money, so a sequel is inevitable.

That said, Stan Lee needs to stop trying to be relevant. He had a couple of good ideas 50 years ago (that may or may not actually have been his ideas). He certainly has a gift for self-promotion, I'll say that for him.

Not suprised honestly given how there is going to be a Frozen 2.

The question I liked to know if the team apperance will get reconn in the Marvel reboot but it probably unlikely.

That's nice and all, but where's Wreck-it-Ralph 2? Now THAT is a movie that deserves a squeal.

I'm not sure it's Stan trying to be relevant, and more people in the industry asking him for interviews, because he's a comic icon. I mean what's the guy going to do, say no? Of course he's going to do interviews, he loves doing this stuff, on top of it being his job.

Stan probably isn't made aware of anything that they don't want to slip out. He's a spontaneous news generator, but the only way he can work as his roll is if he does have news that can make a headline every now and then. It lets everyone feel as though they got something they shouldn't have when in reality it was just cleverly disguised marketing. Because of his old age probably causing the slips they're not going to let anything out that they desperately don't want out.

I was under the impression that Big Hero 6 was establishing a universe for future sequels to build on anyway.

Personally, I'd love to see a follow-up to Big Hero Six, whether it's another movie or even a comics line. Maybe then we could get more details on the other main characters...

Well he did have a hand in most of Marvels best properties, even if other writers and artists made them far better (we wouldn't even have the X-men today if not for Chris Clarmont for example) and I think he might be one of only comic legends left (the only other one I can think of is Steve Ditko).

OT: A sequel surprise literally no one. It killed at the box office and was a pretty good movie. I do hope that BG6:2 has some more focus on the others. Hiro and Baymax were cool but I really want to see more of GoGo and Wasabi.

Well screw that, the story was so full of holes, inconsistencies and the main characters passing around the idiot ball. I doubt i could watch it a second time and as for a sequel? they can kiss my ass!

I agree about wanting to see more of the others. At the same time, BH6 had a plot that did sort of center around Hiro, since he was the one who had the most personal stake in the matter, so that wasn't an issue for me. At the same time, I don't really want to see "Hiro and Baymax (with 4 others) 2", either. They need to focus, and try to find a way to either focus on the group as a whole, ala Avengers, or put one of the others in the central spot (preferably Wasabi. I really liked Wasabi as a character).

I don't believe anything when it comes to marvel 'slips'. I think its just a way to build the hype train early.
