NYCC Ghostbusters Hands On

Ghostbusters might just fulfill your wildest proton pack dreams. I won't say that I was totally blown away by the game, but with the ability to use a PKE meter, the trap and your proton guns in either a lasso or blaster mode, it's hard for me to believe I won't be tempted to relive at least a few of my childhood fantasies. Did I mention the Stay-Puff Marshmallow man is in the game?

The actual level I played had me running around in a skyscraper blasting hordes of ectoplasmic wraiths. This was not particularly exciting. However, when I got to the roof I saw the potential for this game. The roof was a boss encounter that had me using the proton guns streams as lassos to rope in some flying construction workers and force them into the trap I had set up. It was, just like the movie. And no, I don't believe its possible to cross the streams.

I do wonder if some of this game's audience will find itself either too young to enjoy the warm fuzzy nostalgia this game clearly enjoys among the 20 something and older crowd. And I also wonder if Viggo the Carpathian will get his fair due as well.

unless the devs have taken it out, they did mention in earlier interviews it was possible but they did not want to tell us what happened it is suppose to be spectacular though...maybe this feature was disabled during the demo as not to spill the beans on this....
Dr. Egon Spengler: Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.
that should be spectacular i think

this looks like the ultimate ghostbusters game i have been waiting on since i was a kid. the 80's games didn'tt really cut the mustard.

Did EA pick this up after the Activision Blizzard fiasco or was it someone else?
I was genuinely distraught when I thought they killed this.

It was Atari. Atari picked up Ghostbusters and Chronicles of Riddick, THQ picked up 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, for reasons that are beyond human comprehension, and EA managed to redeem themselves to me and a large amount o people by picking up Brutal legend.
Ghostbusters and Blood on the sand are the only ones i'm looking foward.
Ghostbusters, because it looks good. Blood on the sand to laugh at the millions of people who will buy this crap (much like Bulletproof).

they said that in the story mode you cant cross the streams becuase the a.i. would stop shooting or turn away but you can in multiplayer

but i gotta say from how the game looked at San Diego and now it has really been polished

im looking forward to the game, wonder if they'll release a demo?

Actually, frighteningly enough, all early indications is that Blood on the Sand is actually fun.

I reckon it'll be an interesting, good game. As Indigo Dingo say, not GOTY, but good all the same.
