Ah the memories this list brings back. I remember playing most of these, and to be honest I couldn't help but wonder what the controversy was about, but then again I'm Canadian, our movies are usually one or two grade ratings lower then in the States (Kingsmen uncensored was PG-13, Age of Ultron was G).

I remember the Postal 2 hooplah here in Sweden. THey had to legalize the game after the defense pointed out that the kind of violence you found in the game was freely allowed in movies.

I never heared about this Nazi-Killer game. Seems quite "underground". You know there is a KZ(Konzentrationslager)-Manager!?
Also I'm missing "Hatred"!

Eh, I feel the list is better without Hatred. All of the games on it (with the exception of Ethnic Cleansing) were all over the news and media, while I haven't heard anything about Hatred outside of gaming circles.

Compared to the games on this list, there really wasn't any controversy around Hatred. There were some I wanted to include, but couldn't.

Like the hysteria around Mass Effect and its "pornographic sex scenes," or Custer's Revenge (hello, 1980's), or Night Trap, or even CoD: MW2's No Russian controversy.

I thought Night Trap figured more prominently in Senate hearings than Mortal Kombat, but I'm not entirely sure.

Phantasmagoria and JFK Reloaded also spring readily to mind.

Everything seems to fit for the most part, don't see anything... wait. How is Bully controversial? Oh, Jack Thompson made the claim. He wouldn't know controversial if it smacked him in the face.

I also didn't know they had to censor Manhunt 2 to get it released. I remember playing it and saying "damn this is gruesome". I can't imagine how bad it must have been before hand.

I always thought it would be interesting to play a game about a serial killer that's actually grounded in reality. Problem is I am having a hard time picturing how you could do it in a mature and interesting way like TV occasionally does.

I played all but the KKK sim and carmagedden. On another note if you had more idea Ron you should have put those in instead of having two Rockstar games.

They had to rename it "Canis Canem Edit" (Dog Eat Dog) in PAL territories. But that could just as well be due to some weird trademark issue rather than a desire to avoid controversy, I suppose.
