The Man from U.N.C.L.E. - Semi-Serious Stylish Spy Show

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. is a reboot of a television show from the 1960s, and often times makes you feel like you've gone back in time to that period. That is both good and bad...

Sounds like one to get on Bluray.

It is interesting our fascination with the 1960s high fashion and style. Whether it is other movies like Xmen First Class or TV like Madmen, the culture of the times is like its own character and a reason to watch.

And while I did not like Ritchie's first Sherlock much, I thought the 2nd a hoot.

From what you write and I'm reading elsewhere too, I wish this had been better. I will get around to seeing.

So this one sounds like a maybe, like I'll see it as a matinee someday. I liked Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes movies, so this one might measure up to those.

Huh... The fact that there was a show with the same name as this movie in the late 60's kinda explains why the title felt familiar to me... Anyway, will this lead to a rebooted version of The Girl from U.N.C.L.E. called The Woman from U.N.C.L.E.?

Other than that, this sounds like a movie I would watch at home, I guess...

Henry Cavill seems to have that old timey 1950's look about him. Some faces just look like they belong to another generation and Cavill has that quality about him. It's one of the reasons I think he looks the part as Superman, and he looks right at home in these spy things.

I loved the series which I watched as a kid, (my parents seemed hellbent to ensure I had their childhood. This and The Prisoner were things I watched a lot!) so I have been looking forward to this for a long time.

That thing you mention, where it isn't quite straight laced, and not full blown comedy? That is perfect British humour! (Hence the 'u'). I can't wait to see this!

Guy Ritchie is the British equivalent of Quintin Tarantino. The more I think about that, the more it makes sense.

Err, not that I say anything without thinking first. At all. I...have some video-tapes to return...
