As foreshadowed at the beginning of this little adventure: the moment you start to get actual character development is the moment you'll get murdered by fate. :p

Let me guess... he stays still for a period of time and then heals because of regenerating health?

I'm thinking he's going to pass on his armor and helm, so the protagonists become the titular Gunlord. He's just the Tutorial Sergeant.

I'm really starting to get annoyed that you haven't introduced THE most famous FPS character ever.

He goes by the name "Fallow".

Awww, Gunny's getting introspective and self-conscious and what-not, right as he's about to die.

So, next ep he coughs up some blood through his helmet and they get teary-eyed and then: BING! OK, my regeneration just kicked in.

Or, more cruely, he respawns without memories.

Gunny: "Tell me, Private Erin, will I dream?"

Erin: "Of course, all intelligent beings dream. Nobody knows why."

So much damage... yet strangely able to speak in cohesive sentences...

Shit, that armor's as good as plot armor...

I guess i'm in the minority for never having disliked Gunny, it's war, war ain't nice and you can't save every soldier.

But this is still pretty touching scene.

Gunny finds his redemption, and although he will respawn with the start of a new game with no memory of any of this, he will be forever changed by the experience.

Either that or he'll just hide behind a chest high wall for a couple of seconds and be fully healed.

While I'm sure these comics aren't supposed to represent how military service people think, it still makes me facepalm and sigh, my eyes rolling so hard they nearly pop out of my head and bounce across the keyboard. It's like watching The Thin Red Line again. This version of, "Heroic Badass Military Guy" is even more trite and and vapid than video games show them to be. I guess maybe I find it annoying in part because Rad really does capture the 90's era of cool hero anthro-creature and Gunny's just taking the piss out of a cliche. Rad reads like a love letter to 90's games while Gunny's character poopoos all over stuff from the 2000s. Meh.

Or... He becomes self-aware, having performed his first real decision, and essentially joins Rad as one of Erin's projections.
