Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen to Have PC Release Next Year

Fantasy action-RPG heading to Steam for first Western PC release.

Capcom has announced that the publisher will release a PC version of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen to Steam this coming January. An expanded version of the open world action-RPG which was first available Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the PC version will feature improved graphical fidelity over the console releases.

Dragon's Dogma is a high fantasy action-RPG aimed at being approachable by players less skilled in active, real-time play through a system of "pawns", NPC characters in the party (some of which are drawn from other online players) indirectly controlled through AI and commands issued by the player. First launched in 2012, the expanded Dark Arisen release now en route to PC added an additional zone to explore, while including all previously released DLC.

The PC version of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen will be priced at $29.99.

The Escapist gave the original Dragon's Dogma release a rating of 4.5/5 stars in its review [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/video-games/editorials/reviews/9658-Dragon-s-Dogma-Review], with former Editor-in-Chief Greg Tito praising the party system and customization options while criticizing the pacing of some boss fights and the game's brown color palette.

Capcom released a follow-up in Japan last week, Dragon's Dogma Online, a free-to-play title for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC. Since its release on August 31, the game has been downloaded nearly a million times and has achieved over 100,000 concurrent users. As of yet, Dragon's Dogma Online has not been confirmed for release in other regions.

Nice, I have wanted to play this. I hope they don't fuck up the pc port, capcom seems to be a bit lazy with those.

Good news for PC players! But Capcom...you release nothing original in however long, except a F2P online successor to dragon's dogma?
Classy.

YESSSSSSSSSS. I might finally be able to play this game without those damn black bars obscuring enough of the screen ast to be distracting and be able to see the beautiful game underneath.

Well, I already played through it on my PS3 so probably will give this one a miss, but it's nice for those that still haven't played it.
It's a very good game, after all. A bit Dark Soul:ish, but nowhere near as punishing.

Testing the waters for a Western release of Online? I always thought this game could benefit more from multiplayer than its lousy pawn system.

I just bought the PS3 version :(

If it has a decent port, I will probably get the pc version, too...
At least its a little cheaper.

You should have went with the 360 I hear the PS3 has major framerate drops.

Back on topic, FINALLY! Oh I can't wait, I've been wanting a game like Dragon's Dogma on PC for so freaking long it's not even funny.

Finally. I've been wishing for this for so long I'd forgotten all about the game.

There are too many good games coming out in the next 6 months.

MGS5
Soma
Fallout 4
Hitman
Just Cause 3
Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen
Deus Ex Mankind Divided
Dishonored 2
Mirror's Edge Catalyst
Dark Souls III

+ The Witcher 3's 2 Expansions, Arkham Knight and Deux Ex Revision

After 4 years of drought, it's a tidal wave.

I remember downloading the character creator on Xbox and thinking it was by far the best character creator I'd ever used in a game. Make the port good Capcom, and I'll buy it day one.

Hum, if they port it decently this might at least solve the framerate issues I've had with the game. I haven't played it in a while, but I don't know if I like it very much. There's things I really like about it, like being wet affecting your weight and darkness being actual darkness so there's an incentive to use a torch, but there's so many problems with it as well. So far it doesn't really feel the player character has that much input over combat, as you deal about the same damage as your pawns, and it's impossible to know if the enemies you'll encounter will totally fuck you up. It's a very mixed bag.

I keep meaning to go back and finally beat this game. Loved the action and the music, but damned if it wasn't a slog of endless timed sidequests and escort missions.

Is it just me or are games that would have never seen a PC release years ago now getting PC releases? More and more JRPGs are hitting Steam along with games that screamed console(s) exclusive. I love it but it feels kinda weird in a way.

Well Capcom wanted the first game to sell 10 million copies (sadly it sold probably a quater of the mark) So it went the rout of the MMORPG....which will be exlusive to Japan and Asia.

Maybe it was fixed with Dark Arisen, but the constant, vapid chatter ruined the game for me. I would wait until some generous PC modder volunteers to "fix" how your party members constantly drone on and on with stupid observations, terrible advice, and contradicting statements. I like to think that this hypothetical mod will be called STFU.

Otherwise, I begrudgingly admit it was a fairly decent game.

This is the one game I missed after getting rid of my PS3.

I have to laugh though. One of the original developers outright stated this game will NEVER be released on the PC. It's laughable because the frame rate was abysmal on the 360 and PS3. I'll gladly buy it on the PC. Can't wait. If for no other reason it's like flipping the bird to that developer.

???

I played on 360 and I have no idea what you're talking about.
I played on the PS3, I just assumed it was a console generation thing. The PS3 version didn't suffer a lot of frame dips so much as it was constantly a lower frame rate. But, apparently, from what I'm reading, the 360 version didn't have that issue. So I apologize for misspeaking.
