You don't really need to be that old though, and this isn't too far off base for many of us lol. I only have 700+ games on steam or so, but I also have 400+ ps3/4, xbox360,wii games, not to mention my portable games (DS/psp etc) and all the games I have for my ipad. I have enough games to play nonstop for 50+ years easily at this point, without ever getting another game, or factoring online games (Which I have quite a few of as well).
I'm married, so this isn't an option for me, but honestly you only need about $500 a month or so to set yourself up with a rented room somewhere, and internet access, and that would include food and netflix thrown in as well (or hulu). Honestly I can imagine seeing many people "retiring" at a fairly early age and just setting themselves up to play games for the rest of their life if they don't have a family or don't want one. If you save up for 10 years and invest your money, you could retire easily by 30 and just play video games for the rest of your life. Not suggesting anyone does that (and i'm far past 30 myself, married for over 15 years), but when I was 30 or so...I woulda been tempted if I had as many games then as I do now (and I had a good amount of money saved as I hadn't gotten married yet...which is expensive heh).
If I was 30 now, with 100k+ saved and as many hours of gaming available to me as I have now...I might never have met my wife, gone back to school to get a masters degree, started teaching etc. I could easily have been tempted by the dark side of gaming and wasted the rest of my life. Don't give in to temptation!! Resist the games and live a life with meaning!!
