All good things come to an end, the upcoming Custom Hydra Splatling for Splatoon will be the last of the game's free weapon DLC.

Nintendo of America has just generous, lengthy run of free DLC weapons. [https://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica]

At this point, we don't know if this means the end of all DLC, or if additional maps and game modes will continue to be added to the game. So far, all of the game's post-launch content has been completely free.

"We should probably mention that the Custom Hydra Splatling will be the last weapon added to Splatoon," Tweeted Nintendo [https://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica/status/687816723085529088]. It stated that with the addition of the gun, there are now a whopping 74 weapons in total for the game. To be fair, a bunch of them are tweaks and variations of the same base type, but its still an impressive amount of customization. Check them all out below:

Splatoon was a perfect example of a multiplayer shooter done right - shipping regular content updates for free to ensure that the community isn't split, and that there's a steady stream of new content to keep player interest up.

A sad event, but it's been a good run. Hopefully Splatfests will keep going at least. Although I would be totally fine with some paid dlc.

And honestly, the "tweaks" are very relevant, considering that most of the time it's changes to sub weapons or something really drastic. (Like the Carbon Deco Roller, which can't instant kill with the rolling over, but has a much faster swing)

Even if that's it for Splatoon DLC, I think it's been more than enough and it was a good strategy.[footnote]Nintendo did online features better than its peers for once? Hold on, I'm gonna need to check the sky for any signs of it falling.[/footnote] (Of course, more is always appreciated.)

Actually, there are more like 25 weapons in the game, each with variations on throwable objects and special power moves. And even then, many of these unique weapons look similar but vary in firing speed, damage per shot, and accuracy.
