Deadpool - This is a Self-Aware Review Title

Deadpool is a generic superhero movie with a fresh coat of red paint that spells out a profane word.

It's fun.

I m glad to hear that they went generic with the love story. I'm a big fan of their Valentines Day promo. The lameness of the premise should be as tongue in cheek as every other aspect of a Deadpool movie. Looking forward to it, and love the title, BTW.

I watched it yesterday and I think that the only actually bad part of the movie is inclusion of Blind Al. And it is not because I don't like her character, or her portrayal in this movie (quite the opposite on both accounts) but because I feel that scenes with her were added to make the movie longer. Maybe directors cut will make me change my mind.

Everything else? I got what I hoped for and didn't get what I was affraid off. I watched a great movie with gory and exiting combat, a lot of dumb, low brow but funny jokes, rather nice story and believable love story with good chemistry between Wade and Vanessa.

In short, if you just want to watch fun action movie that doesn't feel sterile like many other modern ones, then you'll probably like it. Just don't expect Oscar-worthy material.

P.S. Can someone please remind me what was the name of Ajaxes henchwoman? She was cool and I want to maybe read more about her.

Pretty much the general consensus I've seen from reviews so far: it certainly isn't a bad movie, but there was definitely room for improvement.

production on the sequel has been confirmed by the director and Reynolds so they'll hopefully fix it

I pretty much loved it (it's the perfect Deadpool movie) eventhought I expect the meta humours to turned out differently (I was expecting a direct 4th wall break at the end like Wanted). Also while I agreed having Colossus and the teen was somewhat generic (villains was lame too) but I went LMAO at the joke stab about them ("Why can I see the only two in the mansion? Maybe the studio production can only afford two casts!"). Also the intro was hilarious too! It would had been great if Wolverine had made a cameo but it look like they were staying away from the source as much as possible (they never mention Weapon X and the two X-men were kinda generic as if they weren't part of the other X-men movies cast).

Also I was quite suprised that the film length was only 100 mins, I usually expect two hours plus from a Marvel movie but yet again Fox owned Deadpool.

Oh one more thing, was part of the film set in China (the part when he was going to meet his girlfriend again but the strangers seeing his face is disgust put him off)? I still don't see why it was banned in China.

Lastly was the guy that Deadpool spared at the end was Bob as in Bob: Agent of Hydra? I could of sworn he said Bob.

EDIT- I kinda suprised that it's a 15 in the UK and oh, turns out that there was an end credit (read online) scene but it nothing special than 4th wall humour.

I enjoyed it, but yeah, the flashback amount did annoy me a bit. Interested to see the directors cut, hopefully it improves the film.

This review makes me look even more forward to it. Nothing would be worse than a Deadpool movie that took itself too seriously, but I had a good feeling from Reynolds regarding it anyway. The reviewer stated what I thought as well, this is possibly one of the most natural fits for Ryan Reynolds that there could be. Hal Jordan was also a good fit... but the writing was horrendously bad in it.

The missus and I had a right good laugh when we went to see it, as did the rest of the theatre we were in. Essentially what Matt said but with a more positive spin.

Yes, it was Bob, and I laughed at that moment. Though his knocking Bob out makes me wonder if he put him far enough away to not be crushed by the you-know-what (that totally isn't a you-know-what stolen from the MCU) falling down.

I havent watched it yet, mainly because my 50 year old aunt wanted to watch it with me.

From the review, and from my own knowledge of Deadpool, this is not a film you watch with any of your relatives. Maybe at most your siblings and cousins. But no one else.

Anyway, I heard this film had a super low budget as comic book movie budgets go, so I have a feeling this is why there was not much action and it was shorter than some expected.

Hopefully, the already greenlit Deadpool 2 will be an improvement over the first.

I'm both surprised and not surprised at the amount of children [with their parent(s)] that were also watching this movie along with me, my friend, and a bunch of happy couples... and, I think, everyone had that one standout quote that made them laugh the loudest...

Other than that, this was a very quotable movie... and I fucking love it even more for making me feel that way...

I think I would give this movie a solid 8 or 9 out of 10. So slightly higher than Marter. I'd certainly put Avengers, the various Captain America movies, Iron Man, and Guardians of the Galaxy above this as a movie. However, it did what it set out to do and what I wanted it to do. It's certainly better than Man of Steel, but that may not be a fair comparison.

The movie was violent and funny. There are plenty of jokes and fourth wall breaks and that's was what I wanted. And Ryan Reynolds owned this character. He is Deadpool, much like other people in the MCU.

Hell, even the opening credits are funny.

My only complaint is that we won't get to see him opposite Chris Evans as Captain America or any of the other MCU cast members unless Fox and Marvel come to some agreement. Though, they may be able to do something. Just look at the climax of the movie.

Also, I was really hoping they would make the reference they made in the after credit scene. I was blown away that they actually did. That alone makes me love it even more.

Not gonna say much that hasn't been said by the review or you other chimichanga loving mf's other than this is a "perfect" film. In which I mean, there were tons of noticeable issues like plot and character development, and not every joke is funny (but I promise you'll find something that is going to make you laugh every time you think back to it). But dear god, if this isn't a fine example of a film where the makers knew and appreciated everything we like and gave us all said things in a nice little red, black, and bloody package, then I don't know what can make you happy, Other than more perhaps more.

Saw it last night with a bunch of friends. Every one of us liked it quite a bit, even the two people who hate deadpool as a character. My friend who loves deadpool loves the movie. Very solid, I recommend it.

I've seen a few reviewers saying it didn't have enough action, honestly I thought there was a good amount. The movie certainly never felt like it was dragging.

My favorite thing in the film was the very minor subplot involving the taxi driver.

Just saw it I liked it for the most part but the romantic subplot dragged the movie down for me. Reynolds did nail the part he was Deadpool and I am glad they went R rated. The only other let down was the Deadpool didn't have much of a fight scene with Gina. Colossus is too much of a boy scout to make the fight entertaining and it felt kinda weak. DP quiping about her while fighting her would have made a great fight.

Edit:Did anyone get the trailer for the film that looked like a FPS? That could either be a great vg-ish film or horrible.

So all in all it's Deadpool with a glint of the old deadpool being deadpool.

And you're bringing up things like "cliche" god you must hate yourself.
