How to Be Single - Happy Valentine's Day, Single People

How to Be Single has the best of intentions and a game cast, but its execution is lacking and meandering, losing the point.

I never understood the reason Rebel Wilson (what type of name is 'Rebel'?) keeps getting cast for comedies. She isn't funny in the slightest and her delivery is always off. It's odd to see someone typecast into a role they can't pull off.

She's the main reason I don't want to go anywhere near this film, every part she plays is the 'I'm dumb/fat' stereotype, just another Kevin James but some how more annoying as she talks like she's a lost toddler, with that weird... spaced out... delivery... she does.

It's nice to hear this film's a anti-rom com though, as I despise every poxy film in that genre (except 50 First Dates which I find kinda endearing), but it still looks pretty by the numbers.

If I want to see vulgar, sex-based comedy, I'll go see Deadpool again. Good idea, me!

I'm more put off by how fat she is. I'm down with being comfortable in your body, but hers barely looks like it can support itself.

Sounds like my kind of movie... to watch with my mom if you're using Bridesmaids as an example... :p

Other than that, not too surprised about how unfocused it is... Those commercial spots seemed to subtly hint that... :p

Love the new avatar picture there by the way! XD

Ot: A mirrored sex and the city then? Personally, sex jokes are just not funny after the bazillionth time somebody thinks that theirs is more vulgar, therefore obviously more humourous than the last. Maybe if you're a prude or from a sheltered upbringing and it's breaking walls you though surprising and naughty. But it's old hat for people like me. Like being back at college or high school again, and even then it was pretty tired.

Personally I'm getting just a smidge tired of Rebel Wilson's shtick. It reminds me of how overstaurated Jonah Hill was at one time. Oh look, she's in the movie, and she plays the fat, funny, and shameless dudette who is raunchy when you don't expect that from ladies. How feminist. At this point I could probably guess some of her lines in the movie and be pretty accurate.

Hopefully like Jonah Hill she'll turn a corner or something, she does seem talented at least and it would be a shame if she was just that for 6 years before fading out.

Don't blame her, if you read up on her (not something I do with movie stars, like ever) she wants to lose weight but her movie contracts says she can't.

Also, it's funny that people are all for diversity when it involves ethnic minorities but fat people? Nah, who needs those in hollywood. It's probably good for people to see something else than the super-fit attractive person in a movie sometimes.

Hold up, she is contractually obligated to stay fat?
That's fucked up! D:

I wouldn't be surprised.

I always think of how sad it must be to be an actor who gets their roles purely because they are considered ugly or weird looking. Like the stereotypical fat one, or the ugly one, or the one with weird facial features like really long faces and such.
