DOOM's BFG Made of Over 5,000 LEGO Bricks is Awesome

If you can't get a real BFG, you can always resort to creating one out of a mountain of LEGO bricks.

If you played the original Doom, you know all about the BFG 9000. The massive weapon fired huge balls of green plasma, and was easily the most powerful weapon in the game. If you've ever wanted your very own BFG, then YouTube user ZaziNombies [https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBgpRrt2hplXnxOXwWwEiwQ] has something you need to see:

A BFG 9000 made of about 5,000 LEGO bricks.

The massive creation weighs in at over 20 pounds, and in the video, you can see the scale of the weapon compared to LEGO minifigures.

It's a great replica, and one of the coolest LEGO creations I've seen in a while. ZaziNombies is looking for suggestions for the next LEGO Creation, so if you have ideas, you should definitely pass them along.

Now that is epic! Guy who put that thing together must have a great deal of patience and an equal great ton of legos sitting around for him to be able to do this at real size.

Uugh, 20 pounds?! Don't drop it!

Funny thing though is that this is the first time I've actually understood what those large, spiky braces are for.

Oh...nice. That is cool. I mean, it doesn't fire big neon-green blasts of Lego, but that just looks freakin' awesome.

It looks pretty spot on to the Doom and Doom 2 sprites actually, especially the ones for the pick ups. It's proportions seem spot on compared to how I remember the comic too.

OT: Freaking awesome, but 20 pounds... >.> Boy I hope the actual plasma cannons we end up making are lighter than that.

Impressive, as always.
Though these huge builds always look like they'd take forever to build and would be very expensive to boot.

I've built enough 2000-3000 part sets to know that even with instructions meaning you don't have to spend any time thinking out the design, it takes like 40-50 hours to build something at those kind of scales.

And yeah... Expensive. XD

I mean, I would think my collection of parts probably gets into the 20,000+ brick range by now, but it's not enough to have lots of bricks, you have to have ones that fit the specific build you're trying to create...
And that's quite a challenge that makes things a lot more complicated and costly...

Yay for lego! XD

It's like ffronw was unknowingly thinking about the price of bricks used to build that thing.

I get the impression that the BFG-9000 is more like a plasma artillery or anti-vehicle sort of gun, the actual plasma rifle in Doom was more rifle sized - from memory at least.

Either way, that was cool.
