Looks Like a Batman: Arkham HD Collection is Coming Soon

//cdn.themis-media.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/1313/1313780.jpgA leaked GameStop information sheet has revealed the existence of a Batman: Arkham HD collection.

If a report on Eurogamer [http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-04-18-batman-arkham-hd-collection-revealed-via-leak] is accurate, we could soon be able to play Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City on the PS4 and Xbox One.

The collection, or at least the Arkham Asylum part of it, has been rated by PEGI, the organization that classifies games in Europe.

Apparently titled Batman: Return to Arkham, the collection will include both games and all their DLC. You won't see Arkham Origins - the only game in the series not made by Rocksteady - in the package.

According to the document provided, pre-orders for the collection will start today.

Also the graphics will be the same except for a higher resolution and it will run at 15-25fps average.

P.S. Thanks

I'd like to play City again, but I'd be more than fine with a BC edition on XB1. Then again I wouldn't have to pay for that, so, er, yay capitalism...

It was HD to begin with, you incompetent chucklefucks stuck in marketing. I'm sure it's the same **** who approved that awful GOTY edition boxart for Arkham City.
Not entirely sure why you need to call 'em a "****" for that, but whatevs. The rear boxart of that was pretty decent, at least.

Releasing updated versions of the games? Sweet, now's your chance to release decent PC versions! No PC versions? Sweet!

I'm game, especially when they come with all the DLC. Still waiting for the Arkhman Knight GOTY though.

You know these are probably going to be just GOTY versions from the PC ported to consoles because it's easy, right? WB isn't going to waste money on anything else if they don't have to. And they don't have to.

I hate this. I mean, now they are releasing "updated" versions of games that are 7 years old. What big fat waste of time.

That is my thought. They are essentially putting the PC version on the new consoles since the PC version already supports resolutions higher than what the actual current gen consoles can do.

I'm not going to mind the absence of Origins. It was subpar, even post Knight. They could've included Blackgate as a joke though. That one was pure garbage.
I would call it the low point in the series, but not garbage. It suffers from what I would call "Bioshock 2" syndrome, in that it feels more like a full-game expansion of the previous titles rather than an actual step forward for the series.

Yeah, the city was larger and they finally incorporated some much needed, fast travel in the game, but, all in all, mechanically, it was a reiteration of Arkham City rather than a game onto itself.
Plot-wise, it was okay. It was another retelling of "how Batman met the Joker," which was interesting and, at moments, really communicated how the Joker became fixated on Batman in a weirdly empathetic way.

That said, I really looked forward to a story line that didn't revolve around Batman v. Joker and was grossly disappointed when it turned into another Joker story.

If there's one criticism that I have for the Arkham City and later games, it's that the environments lacked the labyrinthine quality of the first game. Arkham Asylum's biggest strength was that almost everywhere was connected to somewhere else in the very Metroidvania style that it emulated (Arkham City kind of got close to this with Wonder Tower, but that highlighted the limits of everywhere else).

Not sure if I'm going to buy this, as I have the games already, but here's hoping for better cover art...

This is where the joke comes in. The console versions ran at 720p, which a lot of places consider "base" HD, then make up bullshit terms for 1080p. They can then sell the game again as "full HD 1080p at 60 eye melting frames per second!", and THEN in about five or six years, you might even get them selling it again as "4k 60fps" with all of the bullshit marketing terms you can think of.

I'm surprised the whole "30fps is all you need/is better/feels more cinematic/feels like 60" hasn't bit them in the ass yet.

Well, I was just being a smartass. While I do expect poor performance and no real improvements, it's not a guarantee by any means.

P.S. Thanks

Arkham City, at times, looks better than your average AAA game these days. Why the hell would you need a graphical upgrade?

They should have focused on gameplay. Asylum and City play at half the speed that Knight does.

Hasn't the Master Race had these versions for years now?

Nah, thank you. I enjoyed the Batman games but once is enough. And the collection doesn't contain 'Origins' which I consider (together with Asylum) to be the best one. Didn't care for 'City', though. Too all over the place.

Now, if you want my money just throw out a PS4 'Bioshock Collection'.

They came out in various conditions, i played the games before Origins on console and don't remember how stable the PC versions were, but you can always get a better PC version of any game.
