This Giant LEGO Star Destroyer Has Room for TIE Fighters Inside

The size of this awesome LEGO Star Destroyer is mind-boggling.

There are custom LEGO builds, and then there's the LEGO Star Destroyer built by Imgur user Doomhandle [https://imgur.com/user/doomhandle]. It's over 56 inches long and weighs in at about 70 pounds. In the picture below, that's the LEGO Star Destroyer set (#75055) from 2014 next to the massive custom ship, just for comparison's sake. It measures a much more mundane 19 inches in length.

But it's not just the size that's impressive. When you start removing the top of this beast, you find out that it has a fully detailed interior that includes detention cells, conference rooms, meditation chambers, and a hanger with TIE fighters and a shuttle.

It's the attention detail that blows you away, and it's all the more impressive because it uses no non-LEGO parts. I think this guy might have more LEGOs than my kid (although it's close).

Check out the images below, and for a full look at Doomhandle's work, check out the huge gallery he posted over at imgur [https://imgur.com/gallery/snxk3].

With how crazy fans can be, you just know that someday a crazy billionaire is going to build a 1:1 model of a Star Destroyer in real life.

Aren't they like... Super enormous? Either way that would be glorious.

Googled it. They're about a mile long, I would pay to see this happen.

If someone where to build one, it would likely be like the proposed idea from the 90s that almost happened of a life sized casino/hotel/resort in the Vegas Strip of the original USS enterprise.

Ugh. The plural of LEGO is LEGO. When will people learn? I wonder if OP goes around saying 'sheeps' or 'scissorses' or 'aircrafts' or perhaps when he goes to a restaurant he asks for a 'glass of waters'.

Just consider LEGO to be an uncountable noun, like salt or sand. There are too many blocks, just as there are too many grains of sand.

Holy Hell. I made some interesting stuff with Lego, like a starfighter after I lost the instructions of the original build, but that is insane. You can even remove some of the various locations and place them back in with ease. I would have had a field day playing with this thing as a kid.

At first, I thought it was hyperbole that you could fit TIE Fighters inside the ship. But after looking at the imgur, you can indeed fit two custom made TIE Interceptors (320 pieces each), and a shuttle inside. Just how much did all these LEGO cost?

This guy needs to be officially recognized by LEGO and Disney.

If I was going that big, I'd have made it the Super Star Destroyer to keep the official ones in scale.

Still, goddamn impressive, I salute you Master Builder.

I think the correct term is 'LEGO pieces'. I don't think you can say 'This uses 10,000 LEGO' any more than '10,000 LEGOs'. The very act of including a number means you're using it as a countable noun.

LEGO can be used as a mass noun too - 'that's a lot of LEGO'. For example, in your sentence 'Just how much did all these LEGO cost?', I think it ought to be 'all this LEGO'. But when combined with a number, that doesn't work any more than 'I used 5 water to make this soup'

Still, you're right, this drives me crazy too.

Could always start small with an Interdictor Cruiser, they're 1/3rd the size of an ISD. Totally within Kickstarter range ;) I'd even settle for a 1:1 Corellian Corvette.

When you are a billionaire, you are eccentric. Not crazy.
