Did you really put Halo and Skyrim on the same list as Arkham Knight? Really?

You know what the worst thing about Halo is? Originally it was slated for release on Mac and PC. I had a demo for PC that may have actually been prior to Microsoft buying out Bungie's "loyalty." I may be remembering wrong but I could swear I had that demo long before it was released on Xbox, though it may have just been the tech demo reel featuring the early alpha version of the Cartographer level... Either way I did have a PC demo that was a hell of a lot of fun to fuck around with long before I ever got the Xbox version.

What was wrong with Halo? Played it to death back in the day on PC (and on console...yeah, back in the days when I was less selective), I don't recall anything wrong with it in terms of how it functioned.

I played it a bit more recently (my uncle had his old disc somehow), and it ran fine. As far as I know. Not exactly a PC gamer.

Um, the hell is Halo doing on there? Apart from lacking co-op, it plays just fine. It had the prototype for what would become Halo 2's multiplayer experience, and there was a free upgrade offered to PC players that turned it into Halo: Custom Edition, which was a great modding platform.

Halo, but not Saints Row 2? Holy shit, if a game ever needed a better PC port it was Saints Row 2. I played that game about 4 years ago (back when my PC was still pretty top rate) and that game barely ran at the best of times. You name it, the game had it: 10-15 FPS framerates, glitched triggers, broken textures, clipping, the works. People love to ***** about Fallout and Skyrim (rightly so), but good god was Saints Row 2 so much worse.

Yeah, I have to ask what is wrong with Halo as well? I played it through and nothing went wrong (except me screwing up a lot).

Definitely agree with Dark Souls though.

Dark Souls should be a real message to any developer. Heck, that game came out so broken, and was 'fixed' within such a short time it was embarrassing. And it was supposed to have taken the guy (Durante, was it?) about 13 minutes to do it. There's no excuse for this nonsense, really. And Arkham Knight, that took so long to get it right, what a mess. It seemed to far along to scrap altogether and do again, yet nothing seemed to be able to fix it. I got it eventually when it was cheap and played it on my GTX 970 with very little stutter, so I guess I was one of the lucky ones by the end.

For some reason, every time people say "the controls were designed for console", or "play it with a controller on PC", I always expect to have some miserable experience. I do play many games with a controller on a PC, but on those claims, I somehow always end up playing KB & Mouse. Such as, Witcher 2, Fallout 3 and up, X-COM, Skyrim. Never gave me much trouble, except for Skill/spell/weapon wheels. Which you can usually bind to numbers, if the port was done right.

I bought Halo:CE around 2002. It ran perfectly.

Microsoft offered a demo of the PC port of Halo:CE shortly after the release on the Xbox. The demo was substantial, consisting of an entire chapter (Chapter 3, I think, you landed on a beach via aircraft.), as well as multiplayer servers for Blood Gulch, that were reserved for demo players only. The lag was insignifigant.

So, I bought it, in 2002, I think. Ran perfectly. No real bugs, glitches, or exploits. The single players seemed indistinguishable from the console release. The game also had free access to multiplayer servers. The last time I played the multiplayer was around late 2005/early 2007, just before Halo 3 was released. The servers were working fine (again, no noticeable lag). I remember another player commenting in chat something like: "I'm gonna skip Halo 2 and jump to Halo 3, this multiplayer is still awesome and I'm not going to waste money on Xbox Live when I can play this online for free".

Silent Hill 2 and Devil May Cry 3 had MUCH worse PC ports then Halo.

Skyrim? Really? PC players can not moan about that at all. I'll give you everything else, but Skyrim no. PS3 users didn't get any DLC for a year and were lucky if their save game didn't slow to a crawl after twenty hours of playing. A slightly clunky UI does not come even close to that.

For SF5, I wasn't aware any of those things were port problems, I thought they were just SF5 problems. Either way, even if they are port problems it's still not Capcom's worst port job. The worst of theirs that I've personally experienced was Devil May Cry 3 (specifically on Steam, if there are others), that was a barely functional mess.

Also, "shudder" is the word you are looking for, not "shutter".

Beat me to it. Saints Row 2 is in the running for one of the worst PC ports I've ever played, and from CD Projekt for crying out loud. It absolutely needed its modding scene to function correctly (thank you IdolNinja and all the modders behind Gentlemen of the Row). Crap audio (especially the radio), poorly optimized controls for keyboard and mouse that doesn't even seem like they tried (I think it kept the Xbox 360 controller prompts), and to top it all off it crashes more than your epileptic granny on crack behind the wheel of a car on the vegas strip. And if your CPU runs faster than 3.20 GHz (the equivalent of the xbox 360's) your game speed gets all wonky like a Benny Hill hallway scene. I had to install a modding tool and mess around with stopwatches and .ini files just to get the game to run at the speed it was intended to run at.

Also, can anyone fill me in on what's the fuss with Halo? I remember playing CE without issues 10-12 years ago.

Yeah, what's up with Halo and Skyrim? Hell, even RAGE is not that bad, these days you won't even get what all the fuss is about. Where are Saints Row 2 and Deadly Premonition?

Joining with the others who said Saints Row 2. I love the game, it's one of my all time favorites but the difference between the xbox 360 version and the PC version was huge.

Also Assassin's Creed (the first one), I've found it to have framerate problems when you get into a swordfight and actually kill someone. Turns out the soldier isn't the only thing that dies, so does the framerate every single time.

While I agree Dark Souls needed a better port, its cause they borked online. Gameplay itself was fine. I mean, I know I had over 100 hours of little issue there.

Street Fighter V is just a piece of garbage all around. Like, wow it is bad.

Don't see any issue with Skyrim, but then anytime people ***** about using a controller I generally don't care cause controllers are pretty awesome.

A general issue is Japan is ironically bad at PC porting. You'd think a country known for advanced robotics, they would know computers way better. Dynasty Warriors 8 XL is a huge pain on PC.

When I saw Halo my first thought was it meant the series as a whole, they need to get round to porting Halo 3 onward to PC. I can't actually remember any problems when I played Halo on PC, so I will agree , don't know why Halo 1 is on the list.
