Okay, I have to ask this...how is the upcoming Jumanji film a remake per se? I think I read when it comes to Jumanji that it's a "re-imagining" of the 1995 movie, not a second adaptation of the novel. The movie's the base on which they're building, not the book. Jackson's LOTR was adapting the novels directly.Hawki said:Okay, I have to ask this...how is the upcoming Jumanji film a remake per se? I can appreciate the argument of calling the recent Jungle Book film a remake, because it's specifically seeking to emulate elements of the original Disney film. But again, by the same analogy, wouldn't Serkis's upcoming Jungle Book movie also be considered a remake?
It's the same thing that bugs me about people criticizing the Neverending Story "remake," despite the original film being adapted from a book, and only adapting about half of said book.
