Dead Rising 1 & 2 Heading to PS4, and PC

PS4 gamers will finally get to experience the full Dead Rising trilogy.

a timed exclusive only [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/dead%20rising%204?os=%20dead%20rising%204], meaning that a PS4 release was probably in the cards, and now Capcom has confirmed that a re-release of both the original Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2 will be making their way to the PS4 and PC.

"Capcom will be bringing Dead Rising to Xbox One, PS4 and PC. In addition, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record will make their way onto Xbox One and PS4. We will have more news to share soon," Capcom told Eurogamer in a statement.

We don't have any word on when the re-releases will launch, how much they will cost, or whether they will be a "HD-remaster" kind of deal or just straight-up ports.

Dead Rising 4 will launch simultaneously for PC and Xbox One on December 6. It will be a "Windows 10" exclusive for 90 days, and an Xbox One console exclusive for a year.

Didn't 2 already have a PC release? Either way, finally 1 gets one.

Trilogy? DR3 is still Microsoft exclusive.
Looking forward to DR1 on Steam though. Absolutely love that game...got ALL the achievements...twice.

The actual line says 1 will be added to PS4 and PC, and that 2 will be added to One and PS4, though the title is certainly misleading.

Dragon's Dogma and the first Dead Rising on PC in the same year? Am I asleep? Are exclusives finally sinking?

I dislike Dead Rising 2. Couldnt stand it. I tried playing it last year and it felt so outdated and didnt feel invested at all.

Love the first two, maybe someday I'll get to try three but it did strike me as the black sheep a bit.

awesome, though I hope they make it easier to answer Otis and I'll finally be able to touch the infinity mode in the original game to get the laser sword, which I never did on the 360 because no save feature on a machine notorious for rrod? wasn't going to risk it.

Its got an arcade feeling too it yeah. Its also imo the best one in the series. DR3 put the game on easy mode which took away the fun.

I wanna see how DR4 goes because they're taking away the world timer.

I imagine it'll be just a port, much as I'd like a HD remaster and even ideally a full on remake. The story and dialogue are still cheesetastic and beautiful, the gameplay and visuals not so much which is a shame.

I guess I'm glad 2/OTR are going to current gen?

Capcom...There is just no stopping you, is there? What's the ratio of raked up HD remakes to new games you've released lately? Possibly the worst of all the publishers for banking off old successes. Like a tired, aging rock band who re-release old albums in a vain attempt to remain relevant and pay the (dealer debts?) bills instead of putting the work in to write more music in life. And two versions of Dead Rising 2 is silly, off the record is the fuller version, no point re-releasing both, unless you're Capcom.
Still, I guess to counter that negative sound, A least a new generation of gamers can enjoy these are titles, as long as they have aged ok enough.

Eh, OTR isn't a fuller version, more of an alternate one with a few different bosses and a tweak to the story. They should release both, but in one package.

Ok as someone who had the same thought about DR3, I can tell you this: it's not bad. It's actually pretty fun and despite what the trailers and drab colour scheme might suggest it is actually still the same retarded[footnote]I mean it as Yahtzee does![/footnote] Capcom writing we've come to know and love. It's a flawed game and arguably the worst of them, but it's not BAD.

Basically every improvement was counterbalanced with an annoyance if that makes sense. Combo vehicles are a blast but constant roadblocks and confusing maps, combo weapons can be made anywhere but you can't make them without a blueprint, guns are more effective now but are TOO effective on psychopaths, non-story driven psychopaths aren't as memorable but the main cast are actually pretty likeable characters, etc.

I could never get into playing Dead Rising 1 because of the save system. I understand why they went the route of set points to save the game but I just found it an inconvenience.

The game was perfect fodder to pick up for an hour and kill some zombies. Yet that hour would have to be 10 or 15 minutes either side because you had to head back to the save room.

Well that and the damn awful escort missions.

Dead Rising 3 was released on Steam a while back (unless you're talking about Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX + α).

Hopefully both games will fix their damn save systems so that you can save anytime you want like in Off The Record.
