"Lady Layton" Revealed For Smartphones, 3DS

The latest Professor Layton game will star the Professor's daughter, and be released for smartphones as well as 3DS.

Professor Layton [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/professor%20layton] fans will be pleased to know that developer Level 5 has just announced the latest title in the series. The new game will not star the Professor himself, but rather, his daughter: Cattley Eyl Layton. It is appropriately titled "Lady Layton".

Not too much is known about the game, but you can check out the Japanese reveal trailer above. We know it will star Cattley, bet set in London, and feature a talking dog. We also know that it will be released for both smartphones (iOS and Android) and 3DS, unlike the last Layton game which was smartphone exclusive [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/140451-Layton-7-is-Multiplayer-Smartphone-Exclusive].

The game will be released in Japan in "Spring 2017", and we have no word on an English release as of yet.

Are the Layton devs fucking allergic to money or something? Stop making these games Japan exclusive!

Smartphones? That'd mean that if they do bring this out outside of Japan I can finally play another Layton game for the first time since forever! Fingers crossed, but as far as I know the Layton games always sold pretty well outside of Japan.

Cool, sounds fun. I hope it gets an UK release.
I need more games to play on my 3DS, and there's nothing like a Layton game to make me feel both smart and stupid at the same time.

Who da eff did ol' Hershel knock up? Or is Cattley adopted? Either way, I'd be down for this.
And now I have Bob Dylan's "Lay Lady Lay" stuck in my head.

Well it's gotta be better than the last piece of rubbish they released. I just hope they have a good story behind Layton having a daughter who has so far never been mentioned.

I want to believe this is the first step toward getting the franchise back on course but i've been burned way too many times before!

Wait, doesn't Layton got a son well from that spin off game? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Layton_Brothers:_Mystery_Room

I just hoped his daughter still retain some of his charm and gentlemen like quality (he's one of my favourite characters).

Hhhhhhhhuh. Well, at least she might be mostly enjoyable since Layton characters are.

I'm curious too, though - who would he have moved on with after the loss of Claire?

I initially thought it was Rosa since Layton did adopt her, but apparently it's not.
Did Herschel and Emmy get together or something?
I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS!
Edit: The yellow jacket leads me to believe that Emmy is her mother. If she does any kung-fu it will be confirmed.

I never did get too far in the one game I did get for Prof Layton. Should probably fix that and then check this out.

I wanted to ask the same, maybe we'll have him appear as well, anyway she's cute as a button but the voice sounds a bit too old for how she looks, it's too deep
I'm with the two of you. After playing through Layton Brothers I was curious as to what the good professor has been doing, especially if it ends up with him having children. I also agree that the voice sounds off compared to her appearance. I still love the way she looks though, especially the mini top hat. That is such a perfect thing for the daughter of Professor Hershal Layton to wear.

I've never played a Layton game before, but this makes me want to.

That said, I don't get what the gameplay is supposed to be. It looks like it would have made a better anime series.
