Blizzard Announces BlizzCon 2009

Blizzard Entertainment [http://www.blizzard.com] has unveiled plans for its fourth BlizzCon gaming convention, to be held in Anaheim, California in August 2009.

The 2009 event has been expanded to four convention halls to accommodate the growing popularity of the festival, a two-day event built around Blizzard's popular Diablo [http://www.blizzard.com/war3/] franchises. As always, the show this year will feature discussion panels with Blizzard staff, casual and competitive tournaments, contests, a silent auction, numerous prizes for attendees and, of course, hands-on time with upcoming Blizzard games.

"We've been amazed by the incredible response to each of our previous BlizzCon events," said Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime. "We're pleased to be bringing the convention back to Anaheim this year, and we look forward to this new opportunity to meet Blizzard gamers from around the world."

BlizzCon 2009 will take place on August 21 and 22 at the Anaheim Convention Center [http://www.anaheimconventioncenter.com/] in Anaheim, California. More information, including ticket availability and pricing, will be posted at blizzcon.com as it becomes available.

And nobody is surprised.

I'm looking forward to it. BlizzCon was a blast last year, no reason to expect it to be anything otherwise this year.

Also, more Diablo III. Yay.

Hmm...So, anyone thinking this new MMO thats been kept under raps until now will be announced there?
My guess is probably not, Blizzard tends to hold game releases pretty tight to their chests. We only got an announcement for Starcraft II in '07. If they just announced that the project has a Lead Designer them I am guessing it's pretty far off. I would like to find out what they are working on though.

They did just fine last year with WotLK, the third Diablo class and the announcement of SC2 as a trilogy.

So, is this worth going to if you want to find out and discuss things other then WoW? Or is it just gonna be a bunch of people cosplaying as blood elves who really shouldn't?
It'll be BOTH.
