Civilization VI Fall Update Adds DirectX 12 Support, New Scenario, and More

//cdn.themis-media.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/1362/1362424.jpgThe latest update for Civilization VI brings new maps, a new scenario, and more to Firaxis' hit strategy game.

This morning, 2K and Firaxis have released the latest update for Civilization VI. Known as the "Fall 2016 Update," the newest patch brings a number of new features to the strategy game, including support for DirectX 12. The patch notes remind everyone to update their AMD or Nvidia drivers before diving back into the game. The update also adds support for Logitech's ARX system, which allows you to control peripherals, monitor system and game information, and more, all from a second screen such as your phone or tablet.

Also included is a new multiplayer scenario titled "Cavalry and Cannonades," as well as two new map types: "Four-Leaf Clover" and "Six-Armed Snowflake." Both new maps are playable online or offline. The patch notes say that these maps "were designed to encourage more conflict by forcing players to move toward the center."

As usual, the patch also features a number of gameplay fixes. Those include:

Additional UI notifications
Adding the ability to rename cities
UI that shows the next tile a city will grow into
A visual cue for Barbarian Scouts becoming alerted to your city

In addition to these changes, there are plenty of updates to the game balance and AI tuning, as well as a long list of bug fixes. You can find all the changes included in this update in the full patch notes over on the official Civ VI website [https://civilization.com/news/entries/civilization-vi-fall-2016-update-now-live].

The ability to rename cities is being PATCHED IN the civ game. WHAT THE FUCK. Seriously. What are they doing to my favorite franchise? First that horrible BE fiasco, now Civ IV looking like free to play browser MMO with hardware demands of Doom 4, and barely any improvements over weak 5 part... Well, at least they returned government management, but they removed ability to properly build roads! FUCKING ROADS! Oh, yes, who needs to be able to control infrastructure?!

I found this statement a little dubious, so I looked at the patch notes themselves, and that part is copied, word for word. Why on earth would they need to specify that? Don't be Activision, Firaxis. We want to you to be better than you currently are, not worse.

Because maps with extensive scenarios cannot be played in MP. AGAIN. One of the main reasons I'll wait for gold edition.
